Re: New Ducati Monster

I've always liked the Monster. Probably never get one, but it's cool that it has the "big engine" in it. However, looks-wise, I like the air cooled engine in there better. I saw one of the older Monsters with the 996 or so engine, and the radiator sticking out just ruined the looks. The dual pipes on one side were great looking, but that radiator....

I've got my eye on a different Ducati......

Re: New Ducati Monster

got to agree with HG2, the air cooled motors look so much better, and if truth be known the two valve motor is plenty powerful enough for a naked bike.
Flogged my M900Si.e. Monster last year, sort of regret it now. Still the best looking roadster in my opinion.

I do like that too but I'm still happy with the M750 I have now. I don't really need the power since I'm mature and sensible. Judy, are you getting a classic and which one?

Sport 1000 Put the deposit down last year to pre-order. They're ahead of schedule, so it should be in next month instead of March '06 as originally planned. I'll be sure to post pics when it's here!

+1, though a friend owned the bike I'm most familiar with. Until the poorly-vented battery puked acid all over the frame. And the fuel pump went. and on and on...

Re: New Ducati Monster

Had mine a week and the fuel injection went tits up. Then the neutral light developed a mind of its own. Not long after that the oil warning light used to add colour to the dashboard for no good reason. Then all the paint fell of the crankcases. And then ....................... I sold it.

I'd probably put up with another one though. But it would have to be a third or fourth bike.

Oh boy, where to start with my problems....the brake light switch failed and then.....well nothing else, runs like a watch. I caught the battery leak in time. It was a bad batch of GS batteries. Replaced with a YUASA (who now owns them) under warranty. Judy, can't wait to see yours gracing your new, epoxy coated garage.

Me, either! Although it got too cold too quick, so the epoxy is gonna wait till Spring. Otherwise, it's getting close to being done, finally. Should be wrapped up shortly after Thanksgiving. Fingers crossed!

That is a sweet looking bike, Proto.

The S2R 1000 stirs something deep inside me (or maybe that's just the burrito I had for lunch).

I've always liked the look of the older monsters with the twin pipes and wanted the better performance of the S4R or the S4RS but they have the stupid stacked exhaust.

Funny....the stacked exhaust is one of my favorte design elements. That oh so cool dirt track style...of course, part of me thinks Duc made the move to make the Monster look more like the Brutale...

Of course. I mean, does everything for you now revolve around ****ing MV? For ****'s sake, I bet you look at a gawd-damn peanut butter and jelly sandwich and think about MV!

Just for Pete, the first 07 R in Cali, a solo cowl. $23k...

It's OK, you can tell your wife it's my fault.

Oh, that's purty!!! I'm trying to sell my Duc Sport 1000, and one guy wanted to do an even trade for his Brutale. That was very tempting, but I really am trying to cut back!!! Plus, there's nowhere to get them serviced around here.

Yeah, really nice. The only thing I didn't like about it is some of the plastic is textured to be faux carbon looking, but just comes across as cheap crap. I'd have to blow $500-700 on CF if I bought one to get rid of all of it.

Fast by Ferracci is in Willow Grove, PA, doesn't look to far from Jersey to me.

Besides, it's not a Duc, these things don't need a shop often.
