| Greg's Customs VS Proton Signals I know there is some discussion on here about both brands....but I'm trying to decide between the two. I've narrowed it down to these two I like the best. Does anyone know which is the best as far as visibility? I have a cheap set of flushmounts on the front now and there is no visibility from the front. That is, noone can see the signal as I'm coming toward them, which is kinda the point in having front turn signals. So, I'm looking for the best or brightest or however you want to word it. If I'm spending about $100.00 for signals, I'd like to know what you guys think are the best. After my accident last year, I'm into this whole safety thing nowadays. I just want the signals to be as visible as possible, but look good as well. Any input would be greatly appreciated. |

| Re: Greg's Customs VS Proton Signals I haven't actually "compared" side by side but I have seen both of them and the protons seem brighter to me. I think they look better also, but that is more of an opinion thing.

They are really visible and I like the strobe effect that can be chosen from the three choices of flashing. The only down side is the resistors that I had to install to slow down the flashing speed as you can't change the flasher relay on a 954 because it's part of the spedo, tacho unit. The other thing is I don't know if they are road legal, time will tell but they look good. Also I dropped the bike on a roundabout a while back and did'nt wreck the Protons because thy don't stick out as far as the standard turn signals which would have been torn off for sure. Saved their purchase price straight up which is a plus. |

I'll be your best friend forever. Seriouslly, those are nice signals too. Thanks for the link. | I'm a dealer for almost all flush mounts and the Watsen are the brightest cleanest looking ones I have ever seen or installed. If you tried to stare at the Watsen for more than a few seconds you would be seeing spots for a few minutes. They are CNC machined out of billet aluminum, painted with OEM paint from Color Rite and have a lifetime warranty. |

| Re: Greg's Customs VS Proton Signals I LOVE my protons on my 954. I'm gonna get them on every single bike I own from now until they don't make the protons anymore. Hell, I'd love to be able to get some protons that I could use as rear signals also.
I love the strobe effect. It is very noticeable, and when I'm out riding on the streets, I definitely want people to see me especially when I'm changing lanes, and the strobe effect definitely gets this done. They are extremely bright as well, brighter than the Gregg's Customs in my opinion. The other nice thing is something that buddies of mine pointed out: Since they aren't facing just forward, they can be seen from the sides and from kinda behind also. That's not something that most other turn signals can match. I REALLY like that. |

| Re: Greg's Customs VS Proton Signals That's a big concern, being able to see the turn signal from all angles, not just from the front. Thanks for all the input so far guys. |

Plus, you don't have to buy an extra module for running light functions. They already come set up, all you have to do is connect the wire. |

Not with the protons at least, and probably not with the Watsen's either.
BTW, speaking of the protons, make sure whoever you order them through orders the correct ones. There's a mix-up in the Tucker Rocky catalog that most dealers order them through. The part number listed in the 07 catalog is the same for the 929, the 954, and the RC-51, and they are all different. Make sure the dealer is ordering out of either the 08 catalog, or that they call Tucker Rocky's tech line to get the right part number first. |

| Re: Greg's Customs VS Proton Signals Hmmm, I'd have to disagree that the Watsen flush mounts are the brightest. I've had the opportunity to check out both the new and old style of Watsen lights side by side on the same bikes (see attachments ) and they just aren't bright enough during the day. I found the Protons to have a much better glow even during the day. you can run them as running lights as well as change up the flash from normal blink, to fade and strobe.
Everyone has their personal preference, but when it come to daylight visibility, I don't feel the Watsen are better than the Protons.

| Re: Greg's Customs VS Proton Signals Thanks for the help. I think I'm leaning toward the Protons. No hurry though. It's still snowing here. Any more opinions(about flush mounts) would be appreciated.

| Re: Greg's Customs VS Proton Signals FYI, Gregg's are also no-cut and viewable from all angles (they are billet aluminum "plugs" with the light poking out a little bit) which I don't think is mentioned above?
i do remember them being plainly visible in daylight from a distance... i've never seen protons or watsen's, though, so my only comparison would be to stock... |
