Best mod ever! Accelerator pump its free! Need powercommander

I just downloaded and installed the free program from powercommander called the accelerator pump feature.

This is the best mod that I've done to my bike (929rr). I just installed a full exhaust which made a substantial increase in power across the board, but this accelrator pump mod is amazing. Apparently it squirts a bit of extra gas when you turn the throttle. It only give the extra amount for 20 rounds, but you can adjust how long it gives it as well.

It really makes the bike more fun to ride. It changes the character of the bike. It gives that extra oomph that a muscle car gives when you step on the throttle. You know that put you back in your seat a bit feeling.

The settings that come from the download are the ones that most street riders will start with. I haven't played with the settings yet, but I'm not sure I will.

It's a night and day difference when you install it.

You must have a powercommander usb version though. This mod alone would be reason enough to shell out the bucks for a powercommander.

Anyone else try this? If so, were you as impressed with it as I am?

Try that. You have to have the usb version of the powercommander.

Believe me, you'll love it!

The settings that are preset are pretty good. I haven't changed the settings at all and love it.

yes the mod will work as long as you have a powercommander III usb. The powercommander completely changed the character of my bike when I had just a bolt on. It made the power delivery electric. It erased all of the dips in the powerband. You'll need a map for your slip on to get the effects. The accelerator pump mod will also work well.

Odd. It didn't seem to do anything at all on my 600RR. That was with a Micron slip-on and PCIII. Don't get me wrong, the slip-on helped and the PCIII and mapping helped more. It's just the AP mod didn't change anything.

Are you sure it is activated on your bike? Check again and make sure it is on. It can be loaded and turned on or off. It was very obvious that the mod was working on my bike. 15% extra fuel for 20 revolutions should do something. If not, the powercommander wouldn't do much either since it only controls fuel.

Yeah, maybe I wasn't doing something right. I didn't experiment for very long. If I pick up a PCIII for the 954 I'll try it again.

Re: Best mod ever! Accelerator pump its free! Need powercommander

I think I might need a Power Commander as the fuelling is very unpredictable at low revs and in low gears. Are they tricky to install/set up? There seem to be quite a lot on Ebay but do I need to get one specifically designed for my exact bike?

Hi, can you's that have instaled this tell us somethings about this, that us skeptics on here are pondering. 1; Does it kick in (like turbo) or smooth for safe cornering? 2; It it a heavy usage of fuel that gives the extra power? 3; It is in every gear regardless if you want it on not? And finally 4; For those of you that have it a while, how's your chain and tyre life with this extra power?

Re: Best mod ever! Accelerator pump its free! Need powercommander

It can be adjusted to be smoother or more abrupt. The track settings are softer and the street settings are more abrupt. It happens weather you want it or not. You will probably like having it in all gears after trying it. The bike will seem weak without it. I'm sure it will eat your tires a bit quicker, but I'm not sure how much yet. As I get more experience I tend to ride harder so chain and tire life should become less t hough I havnn't noticed it yet. It's fine for cornering in my experience. It's not an unsafe rush just a bit of extra power, from extra fuel, for only 15 to 20 revolutions of the engine. So at 3000rpms (at 20 revs) its on for only 0.02 seconds. It reallly makes the bike feel more responsive and adds to the fun factor.

Re: Best mod ever! Accelerator pump its free! Need powercommander

At the risk of sounding silly, is it just a gimmick? I mean, if it pumps more gas, well it must allow more air, otherwise it's just running fat. So, if it's pumping more air and gas, doesn't that happen anyway when you twist the throttle? Is it possible it's effectively just giving it more "throttle" even though you twist it the same? Your brain would notice the new difference between your hand, and acceleration, making you think it has more power when really that's not the case...anyone?

Re: Best mod ever! Accelerator pump its free! Need powercommander

That's a good point. For those of us who have tried it, we can tell you it makes a noticeable difference. I don't think it would be possible to give 20% more throttle for 0.02 seconds. The computer is much faster than we could ever be. If you've used a powercommander before, you'd notice that changing the amount of fuel makes big differences in the way the engine performs and how it feels. It made such a positive difference in my bike that I will buy one for every bike I get in the future. It really makes the bike smoother and more powerful, with the correct map of course. The fact that so many people have them is an indication of how good they are. I would never drop close to $300 on a gimmick and I doubt that many others would either. The powercommander itself made a giant difference, but the accelerator pump mod was total icing on the cake. A mod that can be felt immediately is a good mod indeed. There was no extensive riding to see if the mod made a difference. It was noticeable right away. Even my full exhaust was a bit hard to tell if it was better at first. It was worth an extra 10 HP. Part of that was the sound was so different that I didn't want to attribute any power difference to the drastically different exhaust note. When I did staight line acceleration tests again my buddy there was no question. Our bikes were close to even before the exhaust. After, my bike pulled on him easily at any time with authority.

It adds more fuel to compensate for the engine to lean out a bit when you are hard on the throttle. There is a lag between the new mixture getting to the combustion chamber and when you get on the throttle.

your going to love it. Just use the settings that are downloaded with the program. No need to make any adjustments before you try it out.

Curt, where did this map come from, it doesn't appear in the list of downloadable maps on Dynojet's website? I've got a 2000 929; is that what it's designed for?

It's not a map, it's an add on module. It is on dynojets website. It's a seperate program from the maps.

Re: Best mod ever! Accelerator pump its free! Need powercommander

okay, my observations.

It didn't give me that special turbo boost at start but it did help fix that lack of power before the kick in the pants at 3-4 k's ( from the erion full systemm, that the pc3 erion map couldn't fix) so it does now give more even power output through the rev's. very good thing.

the only thing i'm worried about is at cold start ( kinda chilly out today), the bike fired up then died. ( almost the first time ever). had to give it some gas during idle just to make sure. i'll have to look into it cause it was the first run after to upgrade.

Well I put it on both my bikes but just got "ENABLED" or "DISABLED" but no options for the settings. I've not got a chance to test it yet (rain). This was from www.powercommander.com.

I found this interesting as well, so I checked my power commander settings, no option available. I did the download and enabled the accelerator pump. After doing so you have to use the power commander drop down tab to open the settings so you can adjust accordingly. I wasn't able to try it out due to rain today either but I sure am curious as to the hype. Any one that did this, did you use the generic race or street settings or find something a little more outside the parameters that gave your bike better throttle response?
