Slipper Clutch is it worth it?

I looked through the pages and didnt see anything regarding slipper clutches...I am looking to change my clutch and wonder if the slipper clutch is worth the money...Besides it was my understanding that when you blip the throttle under hard braking it helps to mitigate the chances of the back wheel locking up and wheel hop...

Re: Slipper Clutch is it worth it?

if you dont race its really not needed. but yeah it prevents the rear from locking up when down shifting. my zx7 had one from the factory and you could grab 2 gears down and not worry about locking up the rear.

Re: Slipper Clutch is it worth it?

if trackdays are in your future i would do it. cbr400rr is the guy to talk to when its time to get one. if i was putting my blade on the track i would definately have one. on the street ive only barely locked up the rear once and it was in the first week i had the blade. i was actually suprised the honda didnt have one considering it was standard on my zx7. ive been fine since i found out i didnt have one.

i see your new here, watch about what you say about illegal activities the mods run a tight ship here so take some time to read the rules before you drop any confessions...

Re: Slipper Clutch is it worth it?

Do you find yourself locking up the rear or does the rear wheel hop when you down shift?

If not, I doubt you would need it. Its a good piece of kit to have don't get me wrong, but for that money you could invest in a PC3... (well start saving for one)

Twincam!

As I am new here and dont want to get bounced I will definitely read the rules for the board. And just so were clear the PC3 you are talking is the Power Commander III, correct?

And currently I am not locking up the back wheel or getting a lot of wheel hop.

Yep a PC3 = Power Commander 3 (Came in two types, Serial/USB - do a search using the search option and there are tonnes of information regarding that)

I would be inclined to purchase one of those, esp if you are running an end can/slip on, different filters etc etc (oh and if your bike is fuel injected that is)
