Slider kits, Aluminum insert style vs straight derlin?

#1.
Who makes a complete slider kit with the Fork sliders, frame sliders, swingarm spool sliders, and bar end sliders. I want my stuff to match (ya know how some ones have groves, some dont, etc) and would like to buy a complete kit from some company. I want the cut style slider. I will use my Machete to make the hole for the safer protection it offers .

#2.
So what has been your experiances with the sliders with and without the aluminum insert. I see both points. Main one is the slider will not bend and break off, vs, the aluminum will allow the derlin to come off. I personally dont see the derlin coming off if it is being pressed into the pavement. Also the aircraft bolt is brittle vs the grade 5 that will bend and hold the slider in place.

I am leaning towards the one piece derlin wityh no insert and grade 5 bolt that will bend but not break.

So experiances, recomendations, and cracking on me all welcome.

Well I had a slider on the right side, bike went down, slider bent and bar end took the brunt.

I still got some small rash but not to bad.

I think you should go with what makes you feel better.

Me
Low speed lay down, just about anything will work.

High speed your f*cked, your replacing stuff no matter what.

Just my 2 cents.

Re: Slider kits, Aluminum insert style vs straight derlin?

i have the vortex frame sliders and i feel they will do the job. you get an aluminum mount you bolt to the frame and then you bolt down the delrin slider on the aluminum base and done. and very easy to swap on a new delrin piece should you test them out. i like the fact that the bolt that goes thru my frame and engine is a metal to metal connection. i dont think id want to deal with a bent bolt through my frame and engine.

Ok so here are what i have found on the cut style sliders so far:

Vortex
KR Tuned
Woodcraft
Suppy(N)demand EXTENDED Honda CBR 1000RR Frame Sliders 1000 RR 04 05:eBay Motors (item 390055997400 These are $23

I really like the bang for the buck of the e-bay ones and his feedback is 32,000 and like 99.8% so i would say he is reputable. He realizes anyone with a lsmall lathe and some UHMW plastic or Derlin can spin these up in the lathe in like 20 minuts easy. But he is not out to gouge ya. I will pay his price for the sheer convienance of it. Hell looks like i can get bar ends, frame sliders, fork sliders, and rear spools all for under $150

NOW he has a 4" or a 5" length. Is longer better? These dont interfear with cornering so i would think longer is better but what do you guys think?

Re: Slider kits, Aluminum insert style vs straight derlin?

ive been told the longer ones can cause the bike to lever over and cause more damage in "some cases"

a friend of mine that races supersport class has the low profile sliders on his race bike and they do the trick just fine as ive seen the bike after a lowside

I use R&G ones. Some guy on here's had seriously bad experience dealing with the company directly.

OTOH, I bought mine from the Honda dealership and the Honda dealer fitted them for me for free. I did not have to deal with the company directly at all.

Those bungs were pricey, but worth it.

Re: Slider kits, Aluminum insert style vs straight derlin?

Why dont many companies sell "fork spools" or "Fork sliders"?

Who have you guys used had experiances with or heard that sells them?

So far these are all i have found and the price seems crazy high for derlin and 2 bolts with a threaded rod connecting them:
Fork sliders here:
Fork Sliders

Would there be any interest in a complete Crash Kit for the 04-07 CBR 1000RR ? I own a 4x4 fabrication, retail, customizing, welding shop and with my cnc machining processes could make these parts pretty easy. It would be a cut style slider, swingarm spools, Bar ends, and fork sliders. Post up your thoughts.

like strumminronin , i use thr r&g sliders the frame sliders come with a punch that threads into the motor mount hole , then gently push the fairing to the punch point & bump it with the palm of your hand to make the mark to dill with a hole saw , they tell you what size to use . the fork sliders come with a new axle bolt ,that is pre-drilled . i had the sme fork sliders on my r-1 & had to take the axle bolt to a mach shop for drilling - nice work r&g .i used the tear drop frame sliders , check out my pics

I actually bought my sliders off of this guy. I have the aluminum with the delrin caps. They're decent quality. I wanted the longest ones I could get. After I got them, the same guy that dropped my bike (prior to me getting the sliders) got the same ones for his bike. Needless to say he dropped that one doin about 40 on a turn. The sliders held up great, didn't bend, and the delrin tips wore down smoothly. All he had to do was buy a new tip. THe bike was fine aside from a bent bar end, and skuffed up foot peg.

The seller ships quick A+ to him.
