BAZZAZ Z-FI & Z-BOMB FOR 08 BLADE

I purchased the z-bomb first to get the robbed emissions power because it's advertised as a true plug & play app , easy enough to install-but it does'nt recommend install unless re-tuned because it states it leans out engine , what happened to p&p ? So off i go to order the z-fi , i've installed a couple power commanders on my r-1 & friends r-1- no problems excellant instructions . the bazzaz unit has the 8 injector plugs but i think 6 other wires to hook up some with scotch locks & the instructions well i did'nt understand what wires to tap into & which to plug in. I ended up taking it to a dynojet tunner with a dyno for the install & a custom map. Ralph has been doing this for 14 yrs with dynojet & he read the inst & understood what to hook up but stated he could see where they need better inst for self installer's. I love to work on my bike myself & normally feel confident but this was something for the pro's . Once installed a mapped i was extremely happy on my first ride - wow what a difference it smoothed out the fueling , the abrubpt on-off fueling before was gone.Pull's from 3500 hard install- power -also done leo gp-pro slip on before insall of bazzaz

Re: BAZZAZ Z-FI & Z-BOMB FOR 08 BLADE

I was expecting more but it dynoed at 155 stock , after pipe & bazzaz z-bomb & zfi it was 162.4 . some of these guy's are posting up to 169 with power commander . ralph is a power commander dealer & tuner , he was'nt familiar with bazzaz set up , he said to remove the flapper's from the air intakes & remove the baffle from the pipe & we would dyno it again. it was 87 & the humidity was really high that day, he said that would affect the power curve . i'm new to dyno tunning , i installed pcm3 on my r-1 with yoshi slipons & down loaded a map & thought i had it dialed . i was really impressed with the diff the mods on my blade made . thank for the reply

The programmer shouldn't make a differance on your max HP, it's the map that matters and the other mods done to the bike. Air temp does make a big differance too. Sometimes we stay late and dyno bikes at night

929, i also heard to let bike cool down in between sessions, thats something i was wondering about, mine was going up to 226 down to 200 degrees , it stayed in that range during tuning .is that normal? as for improvements - no more abrupt throttle from on / off pos. bike pulls hard from 3500rpm. it's 10:30 pm here & ama superbike is on just annonced maladin's retirement at the end of 09 . going to watch race now.

The temp should stay around 200, My guess is the guy tuning the bike didnt have the correct type of fan, You need a big industrial fan to put in front of the bike to keep it cool while running it hard, some guys try to use the wrong fans and it doesn't really work very well.

Re: BAZZAZ Z-FI & Z-BOMB FOR 08 BLADE

thats nice to know , we used a small box fan . maybe after the flapper mod & removal of the baffle , i'll borrow our big shop fan from work & take back with me to re-tune . do you think removing the air intake flappers will make the bike have a stronger lowend power curve . i'm not going for the most hp just real usable hp . any recommendations ? thanks

Thats easy, just dyno it with and without the mod and you will see the true differance, I would advise you to try to make the mod as "temporary" as possible so you don't have to buy a new airbox if you do not get the desired results. On a 1000 it may help a little, anything smaller it would say it's not a good idea to do.

no need for a pcv or bazzaz with the zbomb either. It is recommended but not needed. The zbomb will lean out the top end but the top end is already very rich
