The Flecksters 2007 CBR 1000RR Build Thread

Hey Gangsters,

Just wanted to start a build thread for my 2007 CBR1000RR. Not sure if this is the norm, but alot of my 4x4 boards have them so here goes.m

I have a Black with silver accent stripes 2007 CBR1000RR. Its got 4000 miles on it so far. Im very picky when it comes to mods and do research first then buy or fabricate.

I bought it last year with 1100 miles on it for $8250
So far here is what i have done. I have been shooting pics for this thread as i go so i will post them up as time permits.

Sargent Seat **AWSOME A+ **
ASV levers on. Full length Clutch, shorty Brake **NICE A **
Factory Seat cowl for solo rides **Nice A **
CUT STYLE SLIDER from Supply(N)Demand E-bay seller **GREAT A+ **
BAR END sliders from Supply(N)Demand E-bay seller ** GREAT A+ **
REAR SPOOLS from Supply(N)Demand E-bay seller ** Great A+ **

So its underway.

NOTE If this thread is more suitable somewhere else can some moderator please advise me and move it. Thanks

Re: The Flecksters Build Thread

So I will ask that people dont post up I have this unless the parts i'm considering are seriousley bad from many experiances or if you have had it and went to something else for a good reason. I know one off problems are there, but if it seems to be a trend throw me a bone please. Basically lets not clutter up the thread with I have CRG levers and love them posts. Thanks

So my next additions are looking to be:

Puig Doulble Bubble windscreen (best price i found was $71.95 kneedraggers)
Clear Alternatives sequential Taillight in Smoke color (114.95 Superbike Toy Store)
Adjustable Clip Ons (to raise them up and back some)
SS Brakelines
EBC HH pads
HID headlights
R-8 Headlight accents from BlueFox
Third Eye LED lights
Green Demon Eyes

I figured the smoke color CA lense will look good and not get tinted funny from exhaust like the clear ones seem to anyway. My plan is to have Tripladge do the LED lights in the rear footpegs to add more load so they dont flash as fast. Then i will see if i still need resistors.
If your a vendor that has a great deal on these parts PM me or e-mail me at
scoutcartel@yahoo.com. I would like to buy from one vendor if possible. Again do not post up here PM me please.

Sounds great, but we need pics!!

What is a "demon eye" compared to a halo or "angel eye"?

Re: The Flecksters 2007 CBR 1000RR Build Thread

I wanted the best in protection so after shopping around I realizing i could make these out of Derlin or a similar UHMW material on my lathe. I then check prices and found that the e-bay guy listed above was cheaper than i could buy the material from and do it myself. I bought the rear spools for the swing-arm, the handlebar sliders and the 2004-2005 CBR 1000RR sliders as thats what was available. I was pretty sure i could make these work. So to install the cut style slider (better than any no cuts available hands down) you start by selecting the frame bolt to use. I chose the upper ones as they only involved cutting one part of the fairings. ( Upon further review i may add another set on the lower bolts for more protection..more on this later).

Start by taping off the area. Then take a nukie grinder with a carbide grinding bit or a similar dremel style Tool. Locate the approximate center and plunge cut a hole. It does not need to be perfect, just as long as its the size of the inside diameter of the frame bolt pocket. Just make sure its not larger than the hole saw you choose to use. My sliders were just under 1.75" diameter so a 1.75 hole saw worked perfect but a 2" would be fine as well.

Re: The Flecksters 2007 CBR 1000RR Build Thread

I built this tool on my lathe out of a large bolt. I machined the small part to the size of drill bit that normally goes in the center of the hole saw so it would clamp in there. The large diameter is the exact size of the frame pocket that the bolt goes in. This insures perfect alignment with it.

Insert the tool and lock it in. Take your drill and chuck it up. Then slowley insert it in the frame pocket and cut the hole. After the hole is cut then smooth the edges with a fine file or sand paper. Just be careful and take your time so the paint stays nice on the edges. The tape really helps here. Screw in the slider and you are done.

Re: The Flecksters 2007 CBR 1000RR Build Thread

Ok so the left side threw me a curve ball, but here is how it was solved.

In the picture you can see the frame bolt was too close to the fairing joining bolt. If i were to drill a 1.75" hole the fairing would have been loose. So you will note i drilled a 3/4" hole so as to clear the fairing bolt and associated pocket. I then chucked the slider up in the lathe and machined it down so it fits and overhangs the fairing screw. I am a little worried that it may be weaker in an impact situation. This has me thinking about adding another set of sliders (one on each side to look the same) to the lower set of holes.

What do you guys think? I dont think it would look bad and would add even more protection and it would be something i have never seen before. Kinda unique and functional.

Re: The Flecksters 2007 CBR 1000RR Build Thread

Here is the final look. In this picture you can see i added the Sargent seat as well. What a difference the seat has made in riding comfort. Next i need to find front fork sliders. I have seen some that have a bolt going all the way through that each side screws on. These seem strong and will help lesson damage in a slow laydown.

OK i am apparantley out of space to post helpful pictures. WTF??? Someone pm me if there is something that can be done. I believe others will benifit from these pics, so I don't know why I cant post more for you guys.

I think you have to get a paid membership to post more pics.

Get an account at photobucket.com and upload them there, and just link to them. It isn't as good as having the thumbnails here on the forum but it will do... Hurry!
