| 1 year wait for Aprilia warranty part. I took delivery of the bike ('04 Factory) in late March/April of 2005.
In July of 2005, on the bike's first ride in hot weather, I found the bike to be boiling over after a 5 mile stretch of low speed one lane road. The temp display indicated ~175.
All temps here are degrees Fahrenheit and are open road temps unless indicated otherwise.
After that the temp gauge would at times read 140 - 160 somewhat consistently punctuated with random displays of wildly disparate numbers appearing every second or two for varying amounts of time then return to the somewhat consistent mode for varying amounts of time.
Problem is, of course, the temp display never reached the fan activation temp.
The Aprilia dealer in my town, not the selling dealer, suspected a faulty temp sensor , which is in line with a fellow AF1 Forum member's report of his faulty temp gauge. The warranty claim is submitted, approved and the sensor was placed on order. I'll mention again - this was July 2005.
After many trials and tribulations, the part came in this week -- quite obviously 1 year later.
How bad do you think I'll have to beat my head against the wall to get Aprilia to extend my warranty a year?

I hope Aprilia isn't completely run into the ground as I hope to own another one in the not too distant future. Good luck on the warranty extension. | |

| Re: 1 year wait for Aprilia warranty part. Aprilla is a very tough company to deal with. I was associated as a dealer with them. Not only is the company a pain, but it's tough to sell a Sportbike for $16-$17,000 when you can go out and buy a better quality bike that is faster for $11,000. |

| Re: 1 year wait for Aprilia warranty part. The move from Aprilia to Piaggio was ugly... if you are on the Aprilia Forum you have probably seen many threads about that. The level of service seems to be dealer dependent. I had to replace a fairing, clutch lever, and some other associated bits and they showed up 4 days after ordering.
I have also heard that Piaggio is really trying to get their act together with Aprilia matters. They will probably be a little receptive to your request since you probably started the parts requests with the old Aprilia, not the 'new' Aprilia. It doesn't hurt to try. |

I am not sure what to think of Piaggio or Vespa which in part is why I skipped on buying an Aprilia. Parts from piaggio on scooters is also hard to get.
Glad I have a Honda and Lambretta in my garage. |

I think Duc's real problem is that design is simply too ugly to many of us that were so enamored by the 916... |

| Re: 1 year wait for Aprilia warranty part. I have a friend thats a service manager for Aprilia and he said they are kind of Hot and Cold as far as shiping parts.
Example... he had a waranty claim on a engine and they shiped a whole new engine and did not make the service department fix the old one and it was done quickly. But he also said he waited over a year for bodywork. |
