Hmmmm....let's get motarded!

So the dealer back home has recieved their first shipment of the SXV and RXV's and sold them all. Guess the second shipment has since arrived. You know the price is a lot better then I thought it would be. VERY tempting as a replacement two-wheeler. VERY TEMPTING INDEED. I'll be heading back for a vacation soon and will explore options when I get there. The RXV 550 is gonna be a tough one to turn down. Maybe I can grab a demo ride!

I saw one of those at Miller. What a gorgeous bike. I'd love to have one, but I thought they were around nine large - hard to justify another $4K over what I paid for my already-modded DR-Z.

Re: Hmmmm....let's get motarded!

Riding full-on motards on the street is like riding quads in the dirt.

Yeah the sex appeal is there, those things rock...but I'd Im with the whipper on this (DR-z)

MSRP is $8499 for the RXV 550.

Re: Hmmmm....let's get motarded!

Just got my new copy of Two Wheels Only from Britain. They did a nice little review about the practicality of a few different bikes, called "Living with Excess."

They had the following comments about the SXV5.5:
  • "The closest thing to a fully road legal race bike you can buy
  • You have to accept that it's going to need regular maintenance...But new pistons and shims every 60 hours of riding time? To be fair this is a race-use guideline; road use puts far less stress on an engine...
  • The seat looks like carbon fibre, but it's probably the most uncomfortable bit of semi-foam 'padding' I have ever sat on
  • The vibrations. Get the SXV over 65 MPH and the buzzing from the bars makes your arms go dead
  • The fuel range? Just 46 miles until reserve
  • You'll be amazed at how narrow it is
  • Hit the starter, the Aprilia barks into life. Then stalls almost immediately after.
  • The digital display operates about a half second behind events.
  • ...but these are just quirks that only serve to endear the SXV to its owner, the start of a love affair that only riding it seals. Provided you are in the mood. The Aprilia isn't a friendly bike, it's all or nothing with this new top dog bad boy.
  • Probably the strongest and most compliant brake set up I've ever used.
  • As supermotos go this is easily the best I've ridden (excluding the KTM 950SM)."
I'd love to ride one, but I'm afraid I might want to buy it.

That's pretty much every Aprilia I've ever hit the starter button on (more than a few).

Reaper, you going to see Jesse at Seacoast?

Yep! Great guy and back when he first opened his in that little one bay I was a very regular customer. Spent way too much money there. Sent a lot of business his way. One of the truely nicest shop owners I have ever met.

Just pics on their site. I haven't been back home since they moved. Can't wait to check the new shop out. I'm sure he has about 50x's the amount of room he used to have.

Oh yeah, much nicer location. Still a little on the small side but definately better and bigger than the hole in the wall where they started out. If you get a chance, you should head up to our shop in Loudon. It's not that far from Derry (just down the street from NHIS).

RE, You should really make it a point to visit their showroom sometime in person. Though their photographer is top notch and talent with a lens (I know him personally you know .) they are not your average bike shop by a long shot.

From top to bottom its a good operation with good clean working facilities and a pretty cool staff. I've spent some money there and was very pleased. My bank account is pretty lucky they only deal with used motorcycles

Sorry for the threadjack, but I thought it should be pointed out that those guys run a good buisness
