Re: Aprilia RSV1000R NERA a RC51 is 430 pound I think? so 385 sound pretty good to me for a v-twin.

Re: Aprilia RSV1000R NERA Why are twins so much heavier? They put out the same amount of displacement generally, and they have 2 cylinders less. They should be pretty close to equal weight, no?

the twin motor is just heavier. If you put the pistons side by side you'd laugh!

Re: Aprilia RSV1000R NERA the flat shows 'rub' marks around the tank where you grip with the legs. The paint is not gone or anything, it just looks a little different. I never noticed that with any of my other bikes, especially the track bike where I am squeezing like a mofo when leaning off

But you still have the same amount of displacement, that's why it doesn't make sense If you compared the surface area between one piston out of a twin and two pistons out of an I-4, technically they should be the same |

that is my complaint with it. you think when somebody comes out with something that costs that much money that it would be unique, right?

should be, but aren't, if you work out the math (and it's a lot of working out) each piston in the twin is heavier than two from a 4. Partly because they have to be strong enough to take the extra punch each stroke makes. But I'm so not in a maths mood this afternoon...
