| Re: 2008 KTM Superduke 990 i like it but definitely overpriced by a thousand or 2. it takes bumpy backroads better than my bike and the seating position is more comfortable. but would you beat my bike on one. down your favorite twisties or local track. your 900/929/954/1000 vs a superduke. now factor in the $14,000 or whatever. i know it's not meant to compete with superbikes. so why does it cost so much? because it's european. same with hypermoto. way overpriced. because it's a ducatti. makes less than 100 hp. horsepower isn't everything either but i'm just trying to figure out what makes these bikes worth these prices. i feel like i have something superior in my garage for half the price |

Not to doubt that post or anything but... The 2007 1098S is 435lbs wet and posted a 140.1rwhp on the dyno.. Attachment 27611 Even though Ducati claimed alot higher hp number... SO if the RC8 is 155hp and 440lbs wet then that's about the same numbers as the 1098s.. Im sure the 08 1098 is somewhat lighter and has more hp but until its tested its hard to believe what claims all the bike makers claim... Over and over again its been proven that what they "claim" is usually not always the truth.. Don't get me wrong I would take any Ducati(848 or 1098) over the RC8.. Its just that the jury is still out on all the 08 bikes since none of them have been tested by a unbiased source..

| Re: 2008 KTM Superduke 990 HA!!! so my bike is a few pounds lighter and only short of horsepower by a hair to a $15,000 + ducati 1098. 5 years newer than mine as well. i love it. i dont care that my bike is japanese and that i'll see someone else on one just about averyday. it's better. ok ive become a little biased. but really. With the race ECU and Termi's his dyno sheet shows 160+ rwhp. That's with quite a bit less weight than the RC.

like you i ride red. | I love my Honda and will always be a huge Honda fan but right now they just aren't building the right bike for me. I actually kind of like the 600RR right now but even the colors that they are offering are terrible. My dealer only has the "creamsicle orange" and "stunna graffiti black" which makes it even worse. The silver is the only color that I could handle. I can't believe they want $500 extra for the crappy graffiti paint job. I'm having a hard time justifying the extra $4K for an 848 but it is basically the exact bike I described when I described my "dream bike" in another post a few months ago. It just happens that Ducati built it instead of Honda. I still think the perfect competition for it would be a 600-800cc V-4. I think the new 1000RR is going to be great performance wise but it is severly lacking in character and I have no need for liter bike power.

| Re: 2008 KTM Superduke 990 hey hey hey easy on the short jokes, i resemble that remark.
the only other honda bike that really tweaks my nipple right now is the 1000RR just because its a liter bike. the word suzuki is a complete turn off, except for the 750 just because they are about the only one that offers that size. the R6 i think would be a fun toy, and the R1 i think i would enjoy but it still isnt my RC. and still the ktm's just look REALLY fun. |

| Re: 2008 KTM Superduke 990 I think KTM came a long way in a very short time. If you guys remember KTM is known for their off track bikes and won several WC.
Now moving into street racing is a whole different story but looking at the bikes that are available and comparing them to other bikes that are out there I believe that they will be in the leading group in a very short time.
I would buy one in a hurry if they would have a nicer front design.
I have to admitt I am a little biased since I am half Austrian and frankly, we don't really like Italien bikes. No bashing here but they look nice and run great for some time and after that you need two because one is always in the garage for some fixes. |
