Re: Pocono Raceway (PA)

Several clubs run @ Pocono, including NESBA, Team ProMotion, New York Sportbike Club, and Absolute Cycle, just to name a few. Most of these clubs run 3 courses offered here(North course, East course, and FUSA course). My personal favorite is East because it's the shortest, yet most technical course and it puts the 600's on par with the liter bikes. TPM also runs the East course backwards; they call it Pocono West. It's not an ideal course with a lot of riders(too many bumps and ripples, plus not enough run-off area and the infield is treacherous should you go off course). But since it is only about 35-40 minutes from where I live I won't complain too much about it.

Re: Pocono Raceway (PA)

Thanks … might you have a couple of URL’s for the clubs. I’m not that far from Pocono (near Philadelphia) and I’d love to go up and watch. Actually participating … well that’s another story.

And one more club that runs there: Sportbike Track Time - Get on the right track !! Toll Free #888-390-4020

I ride with NESBA and I'm going to try Absolute Cycles, too.

Re: Pocono Raceway (PA)

I'm currently with NYSBC and TPM. I think I'm going to join up with Absolute Cycle as well since the coaches that I took the school with at NYSBC are now now at Absolute.

I highly recommend trying the track at least once. But be warned, if you do you will become forever addicted.

Re: Pocono Raceway (PA)

Hi guys, first post here. Been riding for 10 years & wanted to know more about getting onto a track & just have a good time.

Which of these clubs are good for noobs such as myself? Also, I plan to use my regular street bike (Aprilia Futura which may be changed for a Honda), so do these clubs offer some way to taking the bike there? I dont own an SUV or trailer that I can use.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Pocono Raceway (PA)

Any of the 3 main clubs are good. NESBA, Team Promotion, Sportbike Track Time. All of them offer instruction for track newbies. I've ridden with NESBA and STT. For someone who's never been on the track, STT's novice group includes (at no extra charge) classroom sessions which I think is a good thing. I haven't ridden with TPM, but I hear good things about their Art Basic school.

Clubs don't provide transportation to the track. Sometimes, if you post on their website's message boards, there may be someone in your area attending the same day as you that has an extra spot on their trailer. Some folks ride to the track, but I wouldn't advise it. U-Haul rents open trailers that would do the trick, you'd need a hitch on your car, though.

Re: Pocono Raceway (PA)

Thanks for the info. Will look up more about STT. Where in NJ are you BTW? Seems like you are a regular at the track.

EDIT: I live in Central NJ (Edison) & hope I can get someone who can accommodate a second bike on their trailers, I will pay for gas or beer

Re: Pocono Raceway (PA)

TPM has a good Art Basic course. Good on and off track instruction and all the coaches there have been nothing more than completely professional and very willing to help you out at any level.

If you do a track day and go with TPM I would sign up for either East or West since they are smaller tracks and they will run the Art Basic as its on session. IF you do the FUSA course you will be out there with the White group which will be your group when you’re done with Art basic. Not a big deal but I know when I ran my basic on FUSA it was a little scary at first since the first 3 sessions they have you going much slower than the rest of the guys not in class and they are just flying by you. After lunch you will be more up to speed and it will be the best thing you can do not being naked..

Say good bye to your bank account bc you will spend all your money on track days.

Pocono wont be getting as much action once the new track in Jersey opens...
