| Where to rent a camper van? G'day mates. My wife, two youngest daughters and I are going to take a holiday in Australia this coming Christmas, flying into Sydney early December. Couple of days sightseeing then we head south towards Melbourne to visit my wife's best friend (from South African days). Thought we'd hire a camper van and make a decent trip of it. Any recommendations on where to rent one? Plenty of outfits doing rental but are there any better than the others? Might try and rent a bike in Melbourne and take a trip along the the Great Ocean road. Roll on December. Can't wait.  | |

Drop us all a line when you get into melbourne, give you the guided tour, and a good excuse for all the .org down under crew to get together put the shrimp on the barbie yadda yadda I know that up north in Queensland and the NT BRITS is really popular and you see them EVERYWHERE, so maybe give them a go, hiring a bike in Melbourne is pretty dear but, when you exchange the green back won't be that bad, I really don't know any good hire places though, boys... |

The other optiuon is to buy a camper from one of the local backpacker dealers. you buy a car/van, drive it, and at the end sell it back to them. Britz Travellers Auto Bahn Just a couple. Remember to track me down in Sydney, would be only too happy to take oyu out for a beer, or invite oyu to a BBQ, or just show ya around  Z... |

| Re: Where to rent a camper van? Thanks guys. Got a quote from Britz A$3150 for eleven days. Ouch. Much prefer the look of Travellers Auto Barn, but sadly they only offer 2/3 seat/bed campers. Four of us travelling. It's going to be expensive  |

Don't really have much of an idea of camper van hire But Bike hire I can help with (The below page only works in Internet Explorer) http://www.netrider.org.au/linksdir/...listing&cat=42 If you join Netrider (costs $AU 5) you get a 10% discount at Garners bike hire amoung other things which should more than pay for itself if your going to hire a bike. http://www.netrider.org.au/?page=partners Could also be another good spot to pose the Camper Van question...  |
