As for voting, I would love to vote for the best man, but alas, he isn't a candidate...

| Re: If I were an Aussie... John Howard has been in for 8 years and this country has gone to ****. Yay, our economy is "booming". Only problem is money makes money. Those who dont need it are the only ones getting advantage. Medicare has gone to ****, It cost a large fortune to go thru uni, public schooling is up the duff, casual employment makes the government figures look great etc etc...I could go on. I wont start on war and asylum seekers, Ill lose the plot if i do.
The sooner we get rid of him the better |

| Re: If I were an Aussie... Yep, simple show them your passport and give them your last state of residence, fill in the form and presto, they'll send the ballot papers direct to your postal address.
It was funny when I went there, went with my two sisters and I asked the girl if there was a BBQ or something happening on vote day, she said unfortunately no but there is a democrats club as well as young democrats social group in melbourne. I said "How did you know I'm democrate" She said nearly 90%+ of everyone coming in to register to vote are democrats and we all say the same thing, we can't keep living in his foreign policy |

| Re: If I were an Aussie... I've been there! The Adelaide Hills are nice. Also spent a few days on Kangaroo Island drinking myself into oblivion with a couple of young college guys that were doing a beach preservation project - i.e., carrying a million haybales and spreading them along a section of beach to encourage plant growth and prevent erosion. South Aussie is nice, but a little nipply in winter, don't ya think? Lots 'o good wineries around though!
BTW, Remarkable Rocks was a trip! Saw my first echidna there also. Jumped out to photo it and the little bastard just started disappearing, straight down.

| Re: If I were an Aussie... Hey!
(Sorry guys, I've been away from the .Org for a while... whoa... whhat the heck happened? Seems so colourless without the avatars...)
Anyway, I don't remember where I left off. I think I mentioned earlier that I spoke with the hiring manager and could have had the job for Oct. 1 but it just wouldn't have worked out time-wise at that point. So I'm now in the process of putting together the visa package... slowly. Very slowly. I can't believe they want to see my university transcrips... i doubt I even still have them.
The plan at this point is to get a permanent, unsponsored VISA rather than attempt to work something out with a company. I don't feel comfortable basing my life on the whim of employment with one firm. I don't know how long the process will take but the first step is 8-10 weeks... THEN I can apply for a visa. So I'm hoping to be there early to mid 2005.
In the mean time, I hear there is a tourism deal where I can fly to Aussie-land, and then fly to like 3 different cities for $1600 Canadian! That's awesome. I hope to do that in the spring if I can get it. |

I'm just glad we have such tight immigration laws which mean small twisted people like him can't get into the country, helps me sleep at night
Actually lets put him in a beat up tinny and dump him out in the middle of port phillip bay, he can claim to be a boat person, spend a few years in mandatory detention, which will toughen him up a bit, then emerge years later to join our society a jaded and spitful little yankee.
See got it all planned |
