Melb dynos??

hey guys ive got a bit extra dosh and im thinking of getting a custom map for my bike done.. try and get it up from its 143BHP and to try and fix the big bog i have under 4000rpm. now you guys have said Phil taiton but ive been told he is more a suki man so im trying to frind out about Rod Sharp and if he will do it.. also do you know of any other dynos around Melb.. if i had a list id just go to the closest one...i knowof megacycle in dandy but they dont tune bikes though they are a great bunch of guys.. ive heard of dynobike?? but dont know where they are... ive ran a search on google and couldnt find anything how much would i be looking at for a map $200??

and if my bike is running too rich or lean could it be hurting it??? im not sure that it would be but a map of the net would it do any damage??? at 4000rpm where i sit 90% of the time its running like ****

Dynobike are in moorabbin

LINK to dynobike

Running too rich can do harm by washing down bores, but it would be very very rich and blowing heaps of black smoke for that to happen, otherwise it will only kill some of your power

Re: Melb dynos??

Dyno bike actually offered me a better price than Phil did, but I figured PTR has a pretty good reputation in tuning and I went with him.
Dyno bike do not use the tuning link software which may not be a problem, but for the price the were charging I don't think they would spend enough time doing all the partial throttle settings like the tuning link software would.

Got that loud and clear from Brenny's rist post but my point was he could have talked to the guy face to face and work out if he wanted to take his bike to him.

Better watch it Matt, once Ratter starts to forgive you, he then begins to make comments about your size

yeah Ratter ive got a PC3r so philtainton might be the only guy that can do it properly but it cost you like $400+ didnt it?? too much money really seeing my map isnt that far out other than below 4000rpm

id be really happy if i got 148BHP after its all done... my flat mate just got a K2GSXR1000 with a yoshi and if it wasnt for the fact he is a big fat bastard he would be pulling away from me down the straights

I think I read somewhere that ratter got more than the map done.

Just get a 1000RR then the GSXR don't worry you anymore, especially on the straights.

Robyn recons I'm heading that way so who knows he might have grounds to take exception to my size.

Re: Melb dynos??

OK. Here's the story. Mapping with or without tuning link has nothing to do with how much time is spent at low throttle or whatever. o that ain't a worry. The tuning link will make maping it quicker, not longer. The thing that makes tuning link better than mapping it "steady state" where the bike is held at say 5000rpm and 60% throttle is that your bike is never run like that. Your bike is never at 8000rpm, at 80% throttle for any length of time, rather, it passes through that area with a load on it. The difference in air/fuel ratios at that point when the bike is held there, or passes though under load, is different. So mapping with TL, means that your bike will be mapped "real world" as apposed to just being better than nothing, if you get my drift. Steady state mapping is better than NOT mapping, but it ain't as good as tuning link. The OTHER thing you want , in my opinion is a dynojet dyno, because the runs can't be altered like they can on other dyno's, to give "better" figures etc. Phil Tainton runs the Suzuki race team, but as far as being a SUZUKI man, that's about as true as Yoshi make pipes for Suzukis the best, but Erion make better Honda pipes. BULLSHIT. Mapping a bike is mapping a bike, whether he's done 1 or 500 of that model, it's the same. Phil is the only one I know of that has tuning link, and he charges $280 (I THINK) for mapping it. Redwing Honda are getting one also, and will have one soon, but will need to be trained up on it etc, so if you want it done now, or soon, see Phil. Don't waste your time with anyone else.

PS. Brenny, your bike will be pretty rich under 4. That's what the hole is. You'll laugh when you ride out of Phils and get on the gas. Trust me. I see it all the time. haha

Re: Melb dynos??

I think I did pay approx $280 just for the mapping but I did have other (shock) work done at the same time and did pay more than $400

Re: Melb dynos??

Great...................But so you know, the problem down low is just a fueling problem. Even if he didn't know of the problem, the bike will be the same when you get it back anyway, so don't worry. haha You're in safe hands. Hahaha. Phil's a nice guy. But the guys at Redwing have BOUGHT a dyno. It's on the way. But if you are talking to Dean or Perry or whoever, tell them I said they've got nuthin'. Hahaha
