We were planning on going to Joes Garage on Tuesday for the bike night too so i'll probably see you there.
The rough plan thus far is get off the boat at devonport on Sunday, ride along the north to the east cost (I believe there is a brewery past Launceston somwhere there Cascade or Boag not sure which.) and a little down the easy coast. Then pull the tents out of the car (one guy is driving) and setup camp for the night.
Monday grab Breaky at the Pancake Barn which I've heard good things about. do a bit more of the east coast (with the occasional double back for another go at some of the roads I've been recommended).
Tuesday make our way to Bruny Island and perhaps check out Port Arthur. One of the guys brothers owns a Oyster Farm down on Bruny Island so we'll make it our base for the next few days. But on tuesday night well stay at the hostel just near Joes Garage so we don't have to worry about the last ferry to the island.
Wednesday and Thursday are fluid at the moment but we were planning on visiting the Cabury factory and the remain big name brewery. Perhaps fit in the tree top walk and a day of white water kayaking (but day trips are only low category so that is under review atm).
Friday we are probably going to start heading up the west coast possisbly staying at Strahan for the night. There are apparently a number of great rides around here so Saturday will probably be spent enjoying those before getting on the boat back.
Sunday we hit Melbourne again and join in on the Toyrun. |

As I type I'm charging my battery. I got my bike back with a clean bill of health for it and the battery on Tuesday Arvo after dropping it off on Saturday with a dead battery. My aftermarket alarm has been disconnected since Saturday so it isn't the cause of this flat battery has to be something else.
Taking precautions but its a bitch of a time for it to fook up. Going to take my charger, there will be a car to jump off and just got Honda Rider Assist. Once the bike is started then all is well, just starting it is a bitch.
i've been told that the Tasmanians have a tendancy to put blind right hand turns right after crests. And also rather than taking the recommended corner speed and adding 20+ km/h, when a corner is marked 35 km/h, that's the speed you do. Also I've been told there are quite a few corners that aren't sign posted at all. So I'll be keeping my stopping distance within my visual range.
Abdel Tasman hey.......wasn't that in these here waters in the 1600s? Fook you are old Bacchus.
These days its the Spirit of Tasmania I & II that go back and forther between Melbourne and Devonport.

I'm in a massive depression mode at the moment so don't see myself getting out of bed before 1pm. But I'll see what I can do. Any chance you could give me a lift home when I drop of the courtesy bike? |

| Re: I'm off to Tassie on Saturday!!! that really sucks cause those roads do look awesome on that map. wish I had some twisties to ride. only a few good roads I've found around here and they are pretty much only 5 turns at most then you gotta turn around and do it the other way. it actually sucks living so close to Boston. there is a good road into boston though thats pretty long but its also kind of dangerous with all the traffic.

Redwing were planning on doing the swap with a new bike but stopped short when it turned out to be the stator which apparently involves opening up the engine. They didn't want to gut a new CBR1000RR then try and sell it to someone else. Which is fair enough I guess.
The warruntee request is already and waiting to hear from Honda, potentially I might get the bike back mid next week, if so I can catch up with the guys on the ride. But the guys at Redwing don't think the part will be available so its going to take 2 weeks to get it in.
I just called Peter Stevens (The jokers I bought the bike off, my change in service department will be explained below) to try and get a bike but no joy from my sales person or the Boss but now have Honda's phone number so I'll contact them on Monday....should be able to catch up with the guys in Tassie if I get the bike early to mid next week.
The reason why I changed from Peter Stevens to Redwing as my service guys was because of the events sourronding my second service. Before my second service I had an alarm installed, as part of this alarm I had a g-force sensor which detects excessive deceleration and acceleration, and is usually used to detect an accident. Because the Blade is reasonably powerful it is possible to trip that sensor when riding it HARD!!!!!!.
I dropped my 1000RR off to Peter Steven's service centre and within an hour the alarm in my bike had called me three times and notified me that the g-force sensor had been tripped. I frantically searched for the service centre's number and called them and was told the mechanic has just come back from a test ride. The ****er had been out thrashing my bike before he had started work on it. I spoke to the manager of the service centre and he dismissed it. The service was completed and I went to pick up the bike at end of the day and once again spoke to him about it, again he dismissed it and weaselled out of any responsibility.
Rode the bike home it didn't feel like any work had been done, there was no improvement in feel like after the first service. I rang them again and this time got another service manager and she dismissed and weaselled as well. So I rang Redwing and checked out their offerings and decided to take my bike to there from then on, for three reasons, I had read a number of glowing reports about them, they were reasonably close to me and they offered courtesy bikes while your bike was being worked on.
I REALLY regret getting my bike from Peter Stevens, they ****ed me on price, they ****ed me on sorting out the loan, they ****ed me on insurance, they ****ed me in the service department and they are ****ing me now that I've got this problem. I'd love to be able to take my money back from them and give it to someone more worthy. I just hope I can warn others about how **** they are so more people don't get ****ed like me.
Think I'm going to have to stop being so nice and start being a prick back otherwise this kind of **** is going to continue to happen. |
