I've ridden both 929 and now 954 fireblades for the past 3 years, I've never had a ticket and I have no problem riding my bike under the posted limit.
Perhaps it's you the rider not the bike. | You my man, are a dick.
You're telling me you've never done over the posted speed limit? These are nothing more than trivial offences while riding with the flow of traffic. This would be easy to do in even your average Falcodore going down a hill or heavens forbid, actually looking at the road instead of your speedo!
When you realise that all the enforcement currently being applied is based on flawed reasearch, and that doing a few kays over a limit which has been arbitarily applied by some pimple faced bean counter to increase revenue for govt, maybe you'll understand. |

Maybe we should cover our bikes with that stuff.... God know no one sees us on the road anyway... May as well make sure the revenue raisers can't see us either...

I'd say its quite likely that Will doesn't speed, being an ambo he probably sees enough of the adverse results of a range of accidents quite frequently to continually remind him to power off a little. |

At 50kmh a fireblade is using maybe 1% of its power. Why have a 1000cc bike if you only ever use 1% of the speed and power? There are 50cc scooters for that kind of rider.

People who claim to have never got a speeding ticket should drop the "holier that thou attitude" if they admit to speeding at any time and at any place.

| Re: Speed Camera Chaos in Victoria Yes Matt time and place, and at the right place at the right time I love to twist the wrist like the next rider.
I have never had a ticket, luck?, maybe.
I was riding down the franga fwy today and there was a camera, I spotted it a mile off, stuck out like dogs balls and I just thought how can you not see that. Maybe it's not speeding, maybe these people are just poor motorists who don't pay attention to the road.
As for being a dick...my response was more to the fact it seemed the rider really wasn't able to control his bike, or the bike was controlling him, either way not good.
But what do I know I'm just a dick |

| Re: Speed Camera Chaos in Victoria Here in Calgary, they're much sneakier about speed cameras. We have stoplight cameras mounted on stands in intersections, but speed cameras are mobile units and their locations are rotated. If you see a minivan at the side of the road (especially where you're going downhill or the speed limit suddenly dropped by 10k or both) 9 times out of 10 it's a multanova. (photo radar) Here though, photo tickets are a more blatant money grab, because they don't put demerits on your license. They get away with that by actually ticketing the owner of the vehicle rather than the driver.
I want so badly to drive by one at 60 and hurl a cinder blodk through the windshield. Almost as badly as I want to take a shotgun to the red light cameras. It's a ****ing crime, and it doens't reduce speed at all. If you don't know you got a ticket until 2 weeks later when it comes in the mail, then what is the deterrent to speed?
I expect gps black boxes (speed and location tracking, automatic fines, all that) in all vehicles soon, but not because they're legislated; insurance companies have already started offering incentives in Europe to drivers who have these devices installed. Here's the scenario: The insurance company will insure your bike for say, $1500 a year without the box, but only charge $250 a year with it. Then watch the standard price skyrocket.
Here in Canada, insurance companies are already mandating that motorcycle owners install an alarm (even though studies have shown bike alarms to be basically useless) before they'll give you coverage. I'll probably have to get one installed to renew my insurance.
I'm so ****ing mad. We need to fight these assholes. |

Gimme a phucking break! Anyone here heard of speedometer error?! | Aussie Speedo errors have a tolerance of 10%, Victorain Speed cameras have a tolerance of 2%. They Powers that Be have heard of it but just ignore it entirely.
Its all based on a study done in Adelaide that found if you travel 5km/h faster than the AVERAGE speed on the same section of road you chance of crashing doubles. But the cockheads at VicRoads decided to read it as 5km/h over the speed limit doubles you chances of crashing and have decided that speeding is the root cause of all traffic accidents, completely ignoring thier own stats.
But hey its great news for the coffers. |

| Re: Speed Camera Chaos in Victoria Whew! Those boys took a great risk. It's funny and all, but if the coppers catch up with them they won't be laughing. The camera operator knows what they look like and their car was photographed. 17 speeding offences aside, there are VERY HARSH penalties for stealing and swapping number plates. |

Actually without wishing to spark another round of Canberra bashing I will
say that when I first arrived here the reason I stayed was that life was one
long party. You know - the seventies. Sex and drugs and rock and roll
to quote Ian Dury . That lasted about 4 years and then I met my wife and
settled down (a bit ).
Now? I work, brew beer, ride great twisites as fast as I like and play tricks on
unsuspecting camera van operators. OK the last bit was a fib and I'm not sure
if it actually happened.
Camera vans aren't a problem int Canberra for bikers as they invariably face
the front of vehicles.
The occasional cop gets out with a laser gun but less so because of all the
camera vans. |

| Re: Speed Camera Chaos in Victoria I don’t really speed much in the city. Maybe 10kmh over (that’s all I can afford) and I always scan for cameras. Rav4’s, new magnas and the new safety cameras in interceptions. Doing this most of the time im going as fast as the traffic around me or slower. On the fwys I go as fast as I like and ride with the frame of mind of not stopping.. at the end of the day I bought a superbike to scare the absolute **** out of myself and to give me the much needed adrenaline fix my body craves for. Luckily my bike also doubles as a commuter and a girlfriend.. I try to minimize the risk I pose to the public and to myself and my wallet. And keep to unleashing the majority of my stupid behavior up the mountains where other than hurting myself which is a fairly high probably the only risk I really pose to the environment around me is maybe hurting the odd wallaby or gumtree.
but yeah that me... if you dont do trackdays or smoke it up out of the corners up the mountains i think you should have spent your pension on a blackbird or firestorm
p.s. stop ya bloody in fighting..where all Aussies...its all no worries guys!!! |

I love it when legislators can't understand or choose to ignore basic math. Quote: |

I haven't used it yet but I saw a news report where the tv news people rated a few products and the spray stuff really worked. They had the police use their equipment to try and read the plates so I tend to believe the report. Buy it and spray it on your plates. That should give the camaras the big middle finger.
