Oz Superbike at Eastern Creek

The 2nd round of the Oz superbike was on at Eastern Creek over the weekend, and I must say, I'm pretty proud of the results. Mark Aitchison took out the Supersport class beating the Factory Honda's, Yamaha's and Kawasaki's using Arata exhaust systems that they get from me and I also do the mapping for their team. Brendan Clarke who was a Factory Yamaha rider for the last 2 years, is now also using the Arata exhausts and I mapped his R6 on Friday night after the practice day, he finished 3rd, which is better than he finished any race last year on the Factory Yamaha. Grant Hay won the superstock races (all 3) and he also is using the Arata exhausts.
I also mapped Anthony Gobert's Blade last weekend and he got down to 33's on the weekend, and is much happier with his bike now, and will get better and better as the year goes on. All in all, a pretty good weekend for Doin' Bikes and Arata, if I do say so myself. And congratulations to Mark, Brendan, Grant and the other guys that I have helped out etc on an excellent round

Re: Oz Superbike at Eastern Creek

Hey Trev great work getting all those bikes running as strongly you did
You should have dropped into to pit bay 46 and said Hello
My rider, Steve Manning #34 04 R1 (The Guy I spanner for and sponsor through my site) ended up equal second overall in the C & D Formula Xtreme Future champions.
Winning Race 1 on saturday by 9.7 seconds (the length of the strait) Grant Hay on his R6 actually set a new (unofficial as it wasnt a superstock race) superstock lap record in this race finnishing in fourth just under 11 seconds behind Steve!

Race 2 was a bit of a frustrating affair with a 6th place due to a bad start and a lack of traction at the rear.

Race 3 was another good race with Steve dicing for the lead with the eventual 1st and 2nd place getters until his bike was knocked into neutral a total of 3 times due to clearance issues relagating him to fourth, the highlight being a PB of 1:38.6, 3 seconds quicker than his previous best just under a week ago at the St George round held at Eastern Creek! and all this after only four race meets! and his times are still coming down very quickly every time he ventures out onto the track,

Also just goes to show how fierce the racing is here in OZ when after two rounds Gobert is 14th in the championship, with the first four riders in saturdays qualifying in the 1:31's

Ps a 1:31 would have put you on the front row of the grid with Doohan, Schwantz and Rainy in the last 500cc Gp held here!

Re: Oz Superbike at Eastern Creek

Yep for sure.
I wasn't out there mate. Too busy, although I would have loved to have been. If I was, I would have seen you around no doubt.
I'd be getting your guy to ease up just a little, coz I've seenit alot, guys come in, start racing, go faster , go faster, and they're thinking "how great is this?" and then BANG, they have a big crash. Wouldn't wanna see your mate do that. He's fast, 38's are damn fast....... especially for how long he's been out there, BUT, once he platau's he'll start pushing and .......... all I'm saying is, get him to take his time, it's only his 3rd or 4th race meet isn't it?

Clearance issues? I have Arata rear sets in stock for the R1 if you need them. let me know.

Thanks mate! we've got adjustable valtermoto's at the moment and they are in the highest position! if we still had the stockers Id take you up on that for sure, I think he just needs to stand the bike up a little more, but I guess that will be where the next improvements will come from as his main complaint is that he feels we are lacking grip at the rear and he cant get on the gas as early as he would like so it may be more of a body/bike positioning thing than anything else? Thanks for the advice about him not trying to go to fast to soon as the last thing we want is for him to crash, he always says that he feels he is riding well within his limits and other riders (such as James Spence) often comment on how amazingly smooth he is, so hopefully he can keep it rubber side down for the remainder of the season

Re: Oz Superbike at Eastern Creek

Hahaha I would take what Jimmy thinks with a grain of salt. No offense to Jimmy but ................. he says alot. hahaha.
Problem is, nobody THINKS they are riding like they're gonna crash before they do so. I did the same thing, spent 3 rounds there trying to do better than 43's. Out of the blue, was doing 41's, and felt REAL comfortable doing it, and was shocked that I was doing it. Then, wooshka......... BIG crash, back fukt, and well, there you go. haha It WILL happen, at some stage, but I just hope he knows why, and doesn't get hurt. One thing I gotta give our guy, Roly, he hardly EVER crashes. He pushed pretty f'kin hard on that SP1 all year, and didn't bin it once during the main season. Maybe your guy will be the same. Here's hoping.

Re: Oz Superbike at Eastern Creek

Yep. I'd be dog food right now if I was a horse. hahaha. My back has been rooted ever since. It hasn't been TOO bad as of real late, but if I say, wash something in a sink (I help out at the families restaurant), it's FUKT. Haha. Still, for a few months I couldn't even lie on my side, had to lay on my back. I went and saw an asian FREAK in Cabramatta and he sorted me in 20min. Well, so I wasn't in 24/7 pain anyway. Haha.

Roly is the gentleman of the bike racing field, you'll never meet a nicer guy. He has his sooky la la moments at times when the bike isn't how he wants it, but yeah, lovely guy. We have a few things coming to help out with the handling of his Blade, so once we get them and he is 100% happy, look out. Haha
