| insuRANTS hey all, i really need some advice from you guys.. i recently moved to sydney from nz and i'm looking for insurance for my bike. sounds simple, and it would be if i was rich but i'm not, so can anyone recommend an insurance company for fully comp that isn't over the top premiumwise? i've kinda rang around a bit already and the best quote i got was bit depressing (although it did show they have a sense of humour).. any help much appreciated. |

| Re: insuRANTS I am currently with QBE, but was previously (2 yrs ago) with Swann. ANY motorcycle insurance will make your jaw drop, especially if: You have no 'no-claim' bonus; you have a recent model sportsbike (929/954 Etc); you have had a loss of license/ claimed on insurance in the past 12 months...blah blah
To put it into perspective, I am currently paying just under $1100 a year for an '02 954 with PCIII, Akrapovic Ti, fully comprehensive insurance. I also have a full lock up carport with a kryptonite chain bolted to the concrete floor.
Hope it helps! |

I just changed from Swann to QBE....QBE is cheaper if you don't crash...swann is MUCH better if you do end up sliding down the road (helmet is covered and you have a much wider choice of repairers, etc etc). |

| Re: insuRANTS I agree with matt, I have claimed with swann twice with previous bikes and have had no problems at all. Thankfully I haven't needed to claim with QBE yet, so I can't offer any more info on them. |

Anyway, hope you enjoy a warped sense of humor BladeRR, and welcome to the .org!! At any rate, I just wanted to infiltrate another Aussie thread - you'll get used to me. And I do hope you get your insurance dilemma sorted out. |

| Re: insuRANTS cheers guys, i'll go through that list matt but thats kinda what i figured is that they would all be pretty high premiums, specially for me (age, bike, loss of licence, previous claim etc) spose i can't complain tho - maybe i'll just keep 3rd party only and make sure i never crash... simple! |

| Re: insuRANTS I just insured with WQBE and it was the cheapest I could find at 1066 and I still feel like I'm getting raped.
Swann quoted me around 1500 from memory.
I hate them all. |

| Re: insuRANTS Here's an insurance question for you Down Under multi-bike owners:
Do the insurance stealers down there nail you to the cross for both (or more) bikes if there's only one licensed rider in the house, or do you get a break??
Here, the TLR is ~$970 for me, and the Triumph is close to the same. But because they are so nice to me, they gave me a $50 break for a multi-bike discount, so my bill is ONLY $1867 / year!! |
