usually more pixels = more detail unless there isn't any to start out with . . .

hehe. I'm not quite sure how to explain the "how or why" of it but every photographer I can think of does it that way. I know that PS resamples/adds info depending on how much you change things and some people like to work in small increments instead of doing it all in one shot but I find that for 8x10's and 11x14's punching it out in one step is just fine. There is also a program out there called Smart Scale (I think) that will allow you to enlarge a shot up to 1600% without noticeable loss.

Gotta feel for Troy at Donny. Wasn't even his fault, but I was waiting for it to happen at some stage anyway. Still, poor bastard can't take a trick.

This is only the case with original pixels. What NH and I are talking about is reducing the pixels by cropping but increasing the dpi.

Hmm... so lets take a hypothetical image of say... 1 dpi. Yes, 1.
. <--- looks like this. If I resample and make it 2 dpi, PS must extrapolate what the pixels should look like... hence
..
..
Seeing how the image is quite a bit larger, I guess the detail would not be lost. Hmmmm.

Eitherway, NH, I tested it out on my home printer and Troy looks fantastic. I think I'll have it printed at the lab to see how well it really came out.

I feel bad for the old guy. I think he's a great rider but I don't think he's going to last long. He's one of my favourites.
