New 96 Blade

Hi All

I posted a hello in the introductions section but after seeing this dedicated Oz forum i thought i should say howdy here as well.

I live in Newcastle and just picked up a 96 blade that is nice and straight but has high km's(115000!!). It was cheap!(4 grand) and due to the fact i have an 8 month old and another on the way it was by far the most bike i could get for the limited money i had to spend. Besides i remember drooling over the early blades when i was a lowly apprentice and all i could afford was my TZR250! so i am happy with my bit of retro racer.

The motor sounded nice and quiet just a bit of ping due to the shims needing to be done. I put it straight in for a major service and bugger me it only needed three shims and the cam chain and tensioner didnt even look like needing to be replaced. My mechanic cleaned and balanced the carbs and went bigger on the main jets as it had a K&N filter and had the standard cans guts knocked out which had leaned it out too much.

I have just added a Moriwaki end can i picked up on ebay for $250 and it is running like a swiss watch! I noticed a question regarding the moriwaki's for sale on this forum and can say they are a great looking thing.

So i am on two wheels again and it didnt cost me the earth, so i am well chuffed. Sure it doesnt go as hard as the latest 1000 road burners but it goes plenty fast for me and it is pretty good on the bang for your buck scale

So again hi to everyone and i look forward to being able to pick a few peoples brains as i slowly make some mods.

Thanks. I am really happy with it as i think the 96-97 looked the best of the pre injection blades.

I have been trying to chase up some braided lines now but the 96-97 seems to be the forgotten blade when it comes to aftermarket parts.

I've seen them twice: once with Godsmack and Puddle of Mud, and once with Incubus and Taproot. The Incubus show was on the White Pony Tour, and it was when Incubus still rocked, and before they started to suck ass. The Deftones' set was the loudest I'd ever heard except for Metallica.
In the Godsmack show they stopped "7 words" halfway through, and launched into "Say It Ain't So" by Weezer. Then they picked right back up where they had left off. It was awesome!
