Good point........it only comes up with the NWS thread anyway......I guess there is no need to have the porn threads too long.....everyone hits their peak a few posts in then rolls over and goes to sleep. |

We only have goals of selling approx 15 hrs a week for the first month and gradually getting more work as time goes on. this week was a short week and we sold 17.5 hrs, doesn't sound like much, but remember I've gone in with no customer base, only my reputation, plus i've had so many visits from friends and sales reps who know me and it all takes time, plus I'm still setting up the workshop.
Thanks for asking |

Thanks for asking | You're on the right side of your budget though by the sounds of it...from when I started working for myself, not only was there no money coming in but you also start to feel like you are being left behind in a professional skills sense. These days I need to schedule time so I can have a scratch, and I fully appreiciate the too busy side of things as well. But there are two extremes of too busy, the first is where you are invigorated by the challenge of a lack of time and then the other is where you are completely drained by trying to keep up. The idea is to operate as close to the energising end as you can. If you are doing a good job then you also have a degree of leeway with how you can schedule things so it doesn't get too much. But I guess being early days its important to provide a good impression. Or the other way is to start putting on more help, slim option since you are just starting.
Don't forget you have a life too, don't let the business take over.
When you say 'we' I assume you mean you and your fiancee? If that is the case it is little wonder you're so busy. Perhaps hiding her away in the back room for a day or two might help with the workload, sounds like she might be attracting to many clients for you .........I suppose your skills might have something to do with it too...maybe... |

Thanks for the advice matt
I have been working in the industry for 24 years (16.5 yrs at the holden dealership around the corner and 7.5 yrs at a small workshop up the road)
I have worked both sides of the counter, dealing with people and repairing cars, my fiancee is all but a qualified accountant and has started an after hours book keeping business.
I think we have a fair idea of how to do things, but I'm sure we will still be learning as we go along.
I expected a lot of time dedicated to the business in the intial stages, but hopefully 6 months or so down the track, we can start to enjoy life a little more. |
