CBR 250 fire blade, yay or nay? please, thanks :)

hey, i am new to this, although i have been trying to learn and find the info myself..

although i would like a hand. I got a mate who is selling a fire blade cbr 250, it has 50,000 kms and he wants $3,400 for it. It is also registered for 6 months in qld, im in NSW.

Whats the difference between Cbrr & Cbr. is it just like the body kit?

Does that sound fair to you guys?

What does a new fireblade Cbr 250 cost? i cant find that anywhere

I am just on my L's.

Thanks in advance if you can answer or give me any other info on any of this

First, and to the Forum.

I have yet to find out what a CBRR is... It would be a CBR250RR or a CBR250 I believe - Unless Honda has produced something I don't know about Sneaky so and sos..

The best thing to do is check out the going rate in your area... Check on places like craigslist, ebay and other places like that (local ads etc) and from there, you will gain an insight into how much they are worth in regards to their condition etc.

lol i live in a smallish rural town, not much to check out in the area.

yeah maybe it is CBR250 & CBR250RR, whats the difference between the two?

Would you pay that much for a bike like that?

i have been looking for a bike for a while now, as i cant find much in the way of road bikes for 3k .
Could you give me an estimate of how much you think one would be worth, and how much they are new?

also found a yamaha FZR250

How do you think the two match up? Both about the same price, but the yamah is a newer model, with only 20 k kms on it

haha i know some people dont like yamahas

But if you dont mind could i have some personal opinions about it

thank you

Re: CBR 250 fire blade, yay or nay? please, thanks :)

The CBR looks like a Sumoto Bike. Sumoto are japanese importers who import late 80s and early 90s 250s which have been sitting in japan unsused for many years cheaply. They then give them a quick repaint to make them look like later model bikes and sell them typically for 5-6 k.

I would recommend steering well clear of these bikes.... two mates have had bad experiences, with perished fuel and brake lines, blocked fuel hoses, ancient spark plugs and the bikes blowing a lot of smoke. Pretty much symptoms of bikes which have sat doing nothing for 8-10 years, which most of these bikes have, even though the new paint makes them very appealing to new riders.

For example here are some of their "2009" cbr250s (somehow they get away with advertising a 1988 bike as a 2009 model simply because it was first registered in Australia in 2009..........

As I said I would recommond steering well clear of these, considering you are paying almost new bike price for a 20 year year old bike.

You guys over the pond are lucky to get these awesome little 250 machines. We have our stupid little ninja ex250 and then the newest model the 250r ninja which is pretty cool actually. Other then that you have to go to a 600 to get anything sporty with smaller cc's here in the states.

I'd love to have a baby blade!

Finally found the light of my dreams, the star in my sky, the bike in my garage.

I bought a little Kawasaki GPX250 , 1996 , 27k kms under her belt and for a nice little sum of $3.7k
