| Urgent help in Perth Required... Hey guys n Gals,
I know this is a bit of a strange request, but i need someones help, someone who has their full RE/R license.... There has been an issue, which I cannot talk about, But my work mate can no longer help me pick up my bike tomorrow, and as I am only on my L's still I cant just go pick up my bike from the freight warehouse... yes im pissed at the moment, It finally gets here and i cant get it...
so my request is: Is there someone available tomorrow to help me get my CBR from the freight company? I would go get my bike myself, but SA Plates are a target and if i get pulled over i get screwed over! it's coming with helmet and stuff so there is no prob with me riding it away other then my license... I will help out with a 6 pack and a tank of motion lotion, hell I live up in clarkson so im miles from anything (hence the petrol)...
Thank you,
Chris. |

Thank you,
Chris. | No problem at all.
When do you want it picked up and where is it?
I'm in Cannington so I can bring it here where you can come to get it at your leisure or I can probably bring it to you on the trailer during the week. lmoss@iprimus.com.au

| Re: Urgent help in Perth Required... I'm not sure how L-plates work in SA but I think you're allowed to ride unsupervised over there?
Here I think you just need a supervisory rider (four years experience I think) either riding pillion (with a learner - no chance!) or accompanying you on another bike.
The SA plate isn't a problem at all though. I think you have three months to transfer your registration over to WA.
In '88 I bought an SA-licenced car which I had to re-licence here and three years ago I helped a mate buy a Vic-licenced car that he licenced here. No problem with either of them.

| Re: Urgent help in Perth Required... thanks mate, you're a damn legend... im not sure about in SA I got my L's here in perth the other week... yeah need a supervisor, either pillion or on another bike... I'd never ride pillion with a L plater so i'd never ask someone to do it for me...
The bike is just around the corner from you too at Maddington, I would leave the bike with you but I'm unsure on how long it would take me to be able to get it... was thinking, would it be possible (at my expense of course) if you would ride with me so I can get it home??? I can get my Miss to take me back down to the depot tomorrow night to pick my car up... just the bike is the hard one atm
You can call me on 0424 194 527 to discuss if you wish...
Thank you very much.

Chris. | My girlfriend is working in Maddington this week and I lived there for some years. I'm always up for a ride :-) Wouldn't it be easier for you to catch a train down to Maddington to save having to come back for your car? I could even meet you at the train station and drop you where your bike is then pick my bike up and we can head to Clarkson.
I have to drop off a crankshaft tomorrow but otherwise I should be free.
You're also welcome to leave it here if you want to as I have plenty of room.

I've probably logged in there five times in the past year just to keep in touch with a guy that's restoring another XS250. Perth Street Bikes
I've been on a private riders mailing list here for about ten years and they've been running a regular weekend ride recently specifically aimed at newer riders including learners. https://mail.guild.uwa.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/war

| Re: Urgent help in Perth Required... All sorted now. I got to spend the afternoon riding around, who wouldn't leap at that chance to help somebody out :-)
165kms round trip.
A real struggle for me riding highways at the speed limit (not a fan of straight roads or speed limits) but I took a more scenic route back home and had some fun.
Thanks for the ride Chris!

Regards,
Chris. | No worries, I knew it'd more comfortable for you on the highways where you could just concentrate on the traffic. I blew the cobwebs out on the way home :-)
It was a long day out that I really enjoyed and have been putting off for far too long, so big thanks for that :-)
If you do find yourself hanging out for a ride and nobody up your way is available, drop me a note and we'll see if we can make something work.

| Re: Urgent help in Perth Required... Well as you said to me, once I give the bike a good wash I'd pick up all the littles that need to be fixed, and well I found a potentially big little... The Banjo on the front brake reservoir is leaking, looks like it's the washer/seals though, so not currently a biggy but has the potential, cheap fix though... for bikes are they a specific washer? or just like the standard copper banjo seals you get from like Auto pro??? |

I didn't get out today but I'm planning to do an oil change on the ZX6R tomorrow. Might go up the hills afterwards.
