I missed this brochure at the expo but thanks to another local forum you can givce a beemer a whirl for <con the fruiter's voice> a couple days </con the fruiter's voice>

BMW's are pretty cool bikes...a bit pricey but they ride nice. Very weird when you hit the front brakes....that cantilever front end thing doesn't take a dive like regular bikes do.

For some strange reason I'm REALLY intriged by thier shalf drive systems, I wonder if its more efficient than a chain, or is it simply to reduce the need for maintenance under poor conditions.

Anyone know the pros and cons?

I'm guessing it has to weigh more.

Shaft drives lose HP, although I'm not sure that it would make a difference to the average street rider. They have more weight, more gears, etc.....

However, the BIG plus size is very low maintenance. About 4oz of gear oil per change and that's it. I have one on my VTX and love it. Chains can be a PIA.

bmw's have dual braking....u pull on the front brake and the back brake also comes on....that i think is part of the whole no diving front end thing when u pull in the front brake, guys i know has a bmw and it has almost a kitchen sink too!
