BMW inspires Harley

I was very surprised when I read that Harley Davidson were so deeply impressed by the BMW's boxer engine that they also made a 750cc in 1942. Of course, it was used only for the army but it looks cool. BMW gains

Now if HD would take a que from the Japanese on building a sportbike... Actually, Ducatti would be the ones to learn from for HD. HD is all about the V-twin, and that's cool, but they would need some help to make one respectable from a performance perspective (much like they did from Porsche).

At least Buell has finally scored a new-tech engine. I cant imagine a true sport bike coming out with the H-D badge on the side of it.

After riding the original Firebolt, I'd say they have a long way to go. New motor or not.

Love em or hate em people buy Buell with those engines, when there are so many alternatives on the market I am at a loss to understand why. Maybe it's a way of crossing over from a Harley and keeping face at the same time

That's it exactly for a lot of people. We had a friend who bought one against our advice b/c all of his friends were in the "Harley crowd."

Within a year, he'd sold the Buell that he had bought brand-new and switched to a GSXR 600. He still wanted to fit in with the other crowd so he also bought a Harley, but overall he couldn't deny that the Buell was crap.

I like the Buell its not a Ducati and sure as hells not a Jap Super Bike and it can kiss my K1200S backside but I like its raw kind of brutal nature, but then I am a bit of a bike “slut” anything with 2 wheels rings my bell
