| Any other pig owners out there? I'm on my second GS1200 (this time an Adventure). I was just wondering if anyone else has seen the light and recognized that 150+ bhp on a street bike that kills your wrists, knees, back, etc is a rather dumb idea and riding a torque monster that is comfy cozy is more fun.
Hands down, the best bike ever made. I have entirely too many pics of it, but here is the obligatory addition.
Proof they can handle: http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l2...s/img_0999.jpg
I have a bunch of pics of the Adv flying a couple feet off the ground as well. |

But any way the GS line of bikes are great and very fun to ride. |

| Re: Any other pig owners out there? I went from a 954 to an RC-51 to my '07 GSAdv.
It's a whole other type of riding, but I've done a few 500 mile days and was less tired than 200 on the RC.
There's still a VTX1800 and a VFR750 in the stable, but they rarely get touched. I put 10k miles on the Adv last year alone. The bike is amazing. Rain, shine, cold weather, etc... It's also the best two-up bike my wife has ever been on. She has a bad neck and the long suspension travel soaks up the bumps. I'm not even sure if a Wing would be better for her.
My typical Sunday morning ride is to take about 30 miles of highway north, take the dirt trails to the east, and ride twists all the way home. The bike does it all.
It doesn't have the insane power of the 954 or the RC, but to my surprise I actually feel quicker in the twists. On real-world roads the suspension works wonders. The riding position and wide bars help too.
Good luck on the new bike!

Well done! My only other bikes are the 954, a KLR and the fiance's F4i.
Um, in terms of miles... Well, I put 24k on the above pictured GS in 8 months. I've only 7k on this one about 6 months, but I've been travelling non stop for work for the past 4 so I haven't been able to get the miles in.
I've been on ADV for just about as long as here- I'm LTS there as well. You should look at some of my threads there and you would probably get a few good laughs.
So if you wanna talk distance: Cross Country and back in 10 days - ADVrider |

I took a quick look at the threads, looks like fun.

-jh | I didn't know a thing about it. I'll have to do a search.
My wife is from NJ, so I'm familiar with the area. We lived in Ocean Grove for a few years when we were first married.
I'd love to do the run, but my skills in the sand are far below the capabilities of the GS. Maybe some day.
The wife got me a spot at the BMW off-road course in SC this May. Maybe after I drop their bike a few times, I'll feel better about running mine in the soft stuff!

Take it out there and bin it a few times! It's a GS not a garage queen! Get a set of Hepko & Becker crash bars and go to town. Usually you don't break many parts if any, and it gives the bike character anyway. |

Still, I'll probably take it up there and run the course someday.
The Adv comes standard with crash protection. I've already accepted the fact that the bike will hit the ground more than once while I own it. Middle DE has some deep sandy roads and I take it out to practice whenever I get time.

| Re: Any other pig owners out there? Oh man, BMWs have got to be the best ride out there. I had a 99 F650(oh why did I sell it) and rode a friends 1200 and I still can't believe how light they feel. I'm only 5'6'' 135lbs but it felt like my bicycle! Oh man, gotta get me another one of these days |
