Ski Quebec?

I am thinking about a ski trip to Quebec this winter, I was wondering if anyone has been? I know some members live over that way and I was just trying to get some info on where the best ski/lodging places are?
I would like to keep it kinda cheap, as the more I spend on skiing the less I get to spend on the bike . Just thought that I would throw this out and see if anyone has a favourite spot to recommend or any places to stay away from?

Re: Ski Quebec?

I was pretty good until, I broke my back last year, now I am not sure I have not been out since? My girlfriend would say that she is the better skier out of the two of us, but...shes
Not sure were we will be going across the border, I am not sure how were are going to get there either? lots still up in the air... This 20% you speak of, how do you get this? I've been to quebec a couple times and never really got too much of a discount...must be a "hidden benefit"
I was thinking mt tremblant? any other ideas or comments about that hill? Thanks for the info...look forward to more...Rob

Tremblant is nice. We were there a few weeks ago. (No snow of course, just checking it out.)

Re: Ski Quebec?

Mont St-Anne is a really nice place, you can rent a condo at the bottom of the slopes to , a lot less expensive then Tremblant but Perfect for skiing.

I think the 20% is because he thaught you where from the states

Anyhow, good luck in your search.

We have some other ski resorts that are cheap and fun so if you came down to Quebec city, you would have 4 ski resorts to visit within 100km

Mont St-Anne

Stoneham

Le Relais

Le Massif

Re: Ski Quebec?

Actually... l'timbré is right! Initially I thought you where coming from down south... when I realized my mistake... my internet connexion got rude on me and decided to take a walk never to come back....

Anyway, back to the subject at hand.

The northern part of Quebec (or north of the St-Laurence) is constructed of many mountains.. not very high mountains mind you, but a good quantity of them. Tremblant and St-Anne being the exception. These are two "best" mountains I know 5 hours east of Ottawa to ski. Trembant might be closer if you can navigate the back roads...

Tremblant is expensive. Make that VERY expensive. But well worth it. When they say walking distance, most of the time it's about 5 minutes. The condos (see Conq's pics) are in the mountain. So the slops are right there. I found a place last year at the base of the mountain for about 120$ a night no skiing included. But, then again, I just got there and called for availability. I know Tremblant is hard at work promoting the area. So you might get a good deal.

St-Anne is a superb mountain + you get to see Quebec City in winter.. not a bad idea.

You have other mountains and resorts (Chanteclair, Mont Blanc, ...) but these pale in comparison. You WILL have a good time at any of these mountains + the small villages in and around each of them. But nothing beats a big bad mountain.

Oh, and if you go to Tremblant, be sure to eat at the little Mexican restaurant, and the "Fine Dining" French restaurant right around the corner from it. Princess' cousin owns those.

Re: Ski Quebec?

For the best prices versus snow condition Massif du sud is the best place to go. FOR SKI ONLY THOUGH, nothing else to do there, but if you want good powder snow that the spot. Mont St-Anne is nice, crowded but nice, can be expensive as well. Le massif is real nice for snow condition and scenery, not much to do at night though. Tremblant is the best place for ski/nightlife but the most expensive.

Stoneham and Le Relais I don't think are worth the trip

Just my

Re: Ski Quebec?

On another note, are the snow tubes still at Mont St Anne? or am I confused with another spot? I remeber being on snow tubes somewere over there when I was younger and man the hills seemed to be HUGE, loads of fun too. If anyone knows where/what I am talking about please let me know, that was fun...
