........of the 4 RCMP Officers killed in the drug raid in Alberta.

I don't know if the LEO's here heard about it, but 4 of your Canadian brothers have gone down.

Re: God rest the souls..........

Very sad indeed. My heart goes out to the fallen officers, their friends and families, and the brothers-in-arms they leave behind.

Here in the States we typically lose an officer almost every other day all year long in line of duty deaths. Said another way, an average of 150 a year, give or take a few.

Having buried two friends murdered at work in the last 9 years, I fully realize the danger. Yet I signed up for this job some 17 years ago now and I willingly accept the risks.

So when someone recognizes a fallen officer it means alot to me, even if they happen to wear a different color uniform or work across the border (or ocean) from me.

Thanks for the link Newf. They were patriots. God rest their souls.

Damn that sucks, RIP. There is no amount of money in the world that can make what they do more than a decision of the conscience or morals because any stop you make for speeding could result in a bullet.

Re: God rest the souls..........

This was written, by whom I don't know, in memory of the 4 Mounties:

As four Mounties stood and faced
their Maker, which most sadly comes to pass,
They bowed down to see their boots were shining,
just like their first academy class.

"Step forward now, young Constables
how shall I deal with all of you?
Have you turned the other cheek down there?
Or have you all been true blue through and through?"

The first Constable, with squared shoulders, said
"No sir, I guess I ain't,
because those of us who carry such weighty badges
can't always live like Saints.”
The second confessed he’d worked most Sundays
and that at times his talk was rough,
and that to control such senseless violence,
sometimes words were not enough…
The third confessed he’d never took a penny,
that wasn't his to keep,
Though he’d worked a lot of overtime
when the bills just got too steep.
The last Constable stated that he never passed a cry for help
though inside he had occasionally shook with fear,
“and once,” he said quite meekly, “I've wept unmanly tears.”

The Constables all agreed together, that they were not sure
if they deserved to rest amongst the best,
Because their life had been one of serving,
And so they were used to having less…

“But if you do have a place for us here,
well...it need not be too grand,
we don’t expect, nor have had too much
so if you don't...we understand."

There was silence throughout all of heaven
While the Saints nodded together as they stood,
And the Constables stood quietly shoulder to shoulder,
for their final judgment...bad or good.

"Step forward young police Constables,
You have borne your burdens well,
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets;
You’ve done your time in Hell."

Re: God rest the souls..........

The only thing that I found possitive about this story is that it was national news.
Flags were at half mast everywhere I looked in SW Ontario.
I hope it never gets to the point that it is in the states like Chains says almost a daily event.
RIP
