Shipping tires across the border

I was just wondering if anyone has done this before(by border I mean the canada/US one) that price on pilot powers by cal sportbikes is a pretty good deal, ok a really good deal, as long as customs doesn't wreck it for me by charging an arm and a leg to get them here...for those of you who have shipped tires, what am I going to be looking at as far as duties and taxes? Thanks, Northern

Morning:

OK, here's a link that says M/C tires are duty free. Click Here Scroll down to page 15, section 4011.40.00 00.

Now, here's what's involved:

I see they are $220 USD (if you want the 180 rear). That is roughly $286 Cdn. You will have to put 7% GST on top of that, so it's now $306 cdn. Then you will have probably a minimum of $40 USD ($52 CDN) in shipping, that brings your total to a minimum of $358 Cdn, if all goes smooth.

Now you have to go to a bike shop to have them put on. So that depends on your local shop, or if you want to try it yourself.

Personally, I can get the BT014 for ~$370 on the bike so I'll stick with the tried & true for me.

THANK YOU...even if I have to pay the 7 percent taxe that is not too bad, I have been quoted a couple of time for a rear alone at around $350 installed If I can get a SET for $350 shipped I am going to be in for sure... on that note you looking a for a 014 with around 6 kms on it? Thanks again for the info, appreciate it.

Re: Shipping tires across the border

6000 kms, sorry about that, it is still pretty good as I am not too agressive on the roads, a lot of straight line stuff(inside joke...) no cupping or any unusual wear, let me know and I will bring it down when I get mine changed.
