If its environmental destruction in B.C.'s oil patch then what is it in Alberta?
Your logging is the environmental destruction I was talking about, read the post again. I mentioned your oilpatch because BC is doing the same thing as Alberta, though on a bit smaller scale. Yes the oilpatch is hard on the earth but it's not as though the whole province is stripped bare and bleeding. And the environmental regs can be pretty tough. The safety and environmental industry is just about as big as the drilling.

I own that book, and I've been to SBW the last 2 years in a row. Check out my gallery, you'll probably recognize some of the roads. Highway 3 heading south out of Castlegar is one of my favorites.... love those high-speed sweepers. Don't know if I'll make it this year but I try to get into southern BC as often as possible. And sorry for the outburst but I'd just got out of bed and I'm sick of righteous BCers ragging on Alberta because we have more money. And I hear it all the time. There's always some guy in a group who used to be a stoner lifty at Whistler, mouthing off about how much he hates it here and can't wait to go back to BC. Go back then! But of course they won't because there's no job to go back to.

Whatever. That article was a crock and it got me riled up. Back to the gloating about being Albertan.

Bertuzzi sucks.

I think it is more like Vancouver sucks. I gave up on them. Great pics. I recognize lots of the shots. New Denver is where I head to on most Sunday mornings. Up to the lake towards Kaslo where I turn around. I might see 5 vehicles on the way up in the early hours. Man its great to live in beautiful B.C. Even with the worlds largest lead/zinc smelter 17 miles down the road.( and it ain't too clean )
P.S. Your bike looks real good.

I've taken that ride a few times. One of my favorite roads.

Another favorite is DH2 (from Needles Ferry west) and DH17(I think) where you drop down the mountainside into Osoyoos. Every time I go there I stop at the bottom, go back up and back down a few times... It's like a roller coaster. All this talk makes me want to ride so bad.... Might go for a little spin on Sunday.

Re: It's good to be Albertan

Down into Osoyoos is a blast. I push much harder when I am going uphill. I heard some guy hit the ditch there after SBW, last year. Do you know much about the fellow that died just outside of Grand Forks on his way to SWB last year. I was in Oliver early in the morning of SBW last year but decided to head home on my Repsol blade I had picked up in Vancouver the morning before.
Cheers

Ya I go way harder uphill too... easier to judge braking points. The guy that crashed there last year was my friend Ryan... The wrecked black R1 in my gallery is his. I was right behind him, he was doing about 200k on a right-hand 80k curve near the top. Damn near started a forest fire too.

Didn't hear about the death.

edit: DH1 is fun too, but some parts scare the crap out of me.
