Re: Calabogie race track

If those 2 tracks + Mont-Tremblant have a good amount of track days I would even consider getting rid of the Repsol or convert it to a track only bike...... I know that Mont-Tremblant will have 4.

Re: Calabogie race track

It looks like this has been approved...

Calabogie Motorsports Park

On July 28, 2006 the Ontario Municipal Board approved the Official Plan Amendment and the required zoning to allow for the operation of Calabogie MotorSports Park. The Alan Wilson designed facility is the largest track in Canada, and the first of this scale to be constructed in more than thirty years. TrackCorpCanada is pleased with the decision of the Board, and will be commencing paving operations immediately. Projected opening for the facility is September 29th, 2006.

That looks like fun. You would need a LOT of corner workers for a full-track day. I could see it being expensive, crowded, or both. I still want to try it though.

I'm up for that... a really fireblades.org ontario day

I need to get off the road. Bad. At least with this bike, I find myself thinking more and more about the consequenses and how much faster I could be on a track and I am now to the point where I really want to find out the difference.

Calabogie would only be about 3.5 hours from my house... hopefully I can hit mosport and this one next year(or when ever it is done)

I am hoping to get on a track this fall if the cash thing works out.

Just so you can come out and say I am "this much" faster than that guy with all the shiney bits...

all kidding aside, for sure, I would love to have an "experianced" track hand at my side for the first few trips.

Hopefully this fall(cancelation for fast school) or maybe early next season

Re: Calabogie race track

Wow i didn't even know calabogie was getting a track. I make the 2 hour ride to Shannonville a couple times a year to check out some of the racing up there (never done a track day) and the roads from Montebello to Tremblant are more then enough fun for me to not even need a track day up there. i love my moms company sending top sellers to Le Grande Lodge every year makes for some good riding up through those mountains while she does her corporate thing

Re: Calabogie race track

Hi Guy's,
The Calabogie race track in now open!
Two of the guy's in our car club are at the track this weekend (Oct 14), one as a corner worker, the other as a driving instructor. I may wander over there myself, to take a look at the place (it's a short drive from Ottawa). This weekends event is a learn the track type deal, with small groups on the track with an instructor running a pace car, to learn the racing lines. As people figure the place out, the pace car's will get out of the way, and let people have some fun!

Cheers,
Dave

Re: Calabogie race track

I took a drive over to the track today, to see what I could. The first thing I can tell you, is that theres only a small area near the paddocks where you can actually see the track. At present they don't let you walk around the perimeter. Hopefully this will change next year!

What I could
