That is great. I had to watch about 10 times just for entertainment sake.

I would say that Canada has been paying attention to the US in the tax dept. There's nothing like the IRS.

Funny, but pisses me off because this same Liberal comedian likes to trash the Conservatives for cutting social spending.

What are you talking about? Most countries pay 40-50% income tax then pay ~15% VAT for every purchase. We have it easy.

Not THAT much easier... I have 46% of my pay witheld, and then pay 7.75% tax on everything here in San Diego.

Did you know, the US government spends more money, averaged per person for the whole country, on the people it covers with medicare/medicaid, than Canada or Britain does per person to insure every citizen?

Yep, that's right, every tax paying American throws more into the healthcare pot every year than a Canadian or Brit...and most high tax payers, then get to pay for insurance on top of that.

America has the best healthcare you can buy in the world...

....

Neither system works. We don't pay for insurance but knee replacement surgeries come with a 2+ year waiting list.

I think the ideal system is a hybrid of public and private, where everyone has access to health care but the system is not immune to supply and demand. Pretty tough to get the combination right... France actually makes it work pretty well.

Damn. They have 60% tax in the Netherlands.

Taxes are never bad unless you aren't prepared for them. It's just an expense line item.

Yeah, my point wasn't that your system is better. It was that Americans already spend more money on government healthcare per person than Canada or Britain despite not covering most of the population. Brits of course, despite far far less money in the system, just became famous for being more healthy than Americans...

Actually, taxes are awful, planned for or not, if you believe in the efficiency of free market economies.

Re: And I thought taxes in the USA was bad!

Remember that every American already has free health care. All you have to do is walk into an ER and you get all the care you need.
Of course, that is abusing the system and part of the problem with high insurance rates, but the fact is that not one single American is lacking health care if they need it.

Re: And I thought taxes in the USA was bad!

Yes.

But I found it quite compelling if we mirrored the policy of say Britain, we might actually spend less dollars per person on healthcare if we just offered the same system to all. They don't seem to suffer healthwise from it.

I'm not arguing for more taxation on oil companies.

And oil isn't a free market anyways. It is highly government subsidized.

I think the gov. is more subsidized by the oil companies than the oil companies are subsidized gy government. At least that's how it is where I live.
