Re: Intergrated Tail light

I saw a someone with no signals or mirrors on the bike. Was it legal? I'm not sure. I figure hand signals is possibly enough but you might have to ask the dealer... the cops might try and deter you just because they're the cops! Is there a certain look you are going for? It's good to have a plan.

Re: Intergrated Tail light

Something to check on.
Here in the midwest it goes like this:

If you don't have any turn signals front or rear and you use hand signals. That's legal

If you have turn signals then you need them front and rear.
--One bulb that is burned out will get you a ticket.

I run a HighTechSpeed UFO tail light in mine. I can enable and disable the turn signals in a few seconds.
Has several different patterns of turn, tail, and stop lights.

Re: Intergrated Tail light

Ok..actually I was told that its illegal here in Ontario to have the intergrated tail lights..that is why they are not selling them here anymore..I was just wondering..the look I was going for was just to eliminate those big signals on the sides..but I may just go with the flush mount signals and keep my stock tail light..and go with the LED mirrors..

Re: Intergrated Tail light

Yes Integrated taillights are illegal.. Even here.

Reason being.. Its harder for people to notice your signal light is going. Not that they notice anyways.

Personally.. I have one for my bike regardless, I dont like the looks of stock bikes

hence why I cannot buy them here in the bike shops that I have looked into..and with my luck..the cops will pull me over and give me a nice ticket if i do go with the intergrated tail light..so.. I will just go with the flush mount signals then..because I hate the way the stock signals stick out..

Re: Intergrated Tail light

Flush mount are easy enough for the front... for the rear there are similar ones to the stock that are smaller and don't stick out near as much. Also they look way better than mounting flush mounts on the rear. You can also get them with different shaded lenses (kind of a smoke flavour in the stock orange). Cleans it up a bit without drawing too much attention.

Re: Intergrated Tail light

I had an integrated taillight on my 99 F4 and never had any issues with the Police... even with them directly behind me. Any ways, I got rid of the 99 and picked up an 07 600RR in the middle of November and am planning on installing an integrated taillight over the winter months.

Like most things, its not a sure thing to get pulled over for such a thing.
Its also illegal to have a burnt out headlight, yet you see so many on the roads

I agree. I was simply stating that they have more important things to do then worry about this kind of stuff. Cheers!

Re: Intergrated Tail light

I'm going to be honest... I may leave my bike completely stock. Anyone else consider this? Don't mean to change the thread... should I start this somewhere else?

I am not aware of any section in the Highway Traffic Act that would cause an integrated tail light to be illegal in Ontario.

Most aftermarket tails are not DOT approved. Mine isn't, therefor its not supposed to be used on public roads.
