The tracks that the CMRA races at are:
Motorsport Ranch : 1 hr from Dallas....FUN tight technical track with great grip in the afternoon
Texas World : 3 hr from Dallas....Horsepower track. I've never ridden it, but sounds like a blast...partial highbank with a nice long infield section
Oak Hill : 1 hr from Dallas...Tight technical track with about 20 different track surfaces. Never ridden it, but I've corner worked there
Hallet : 5 hr from Dallas (in North Oklahoma)...don't know much about this one, but I think the surface is good in most spots
For track details, you could start at
CMRA and hit the "tracks" link which will have more info. There are regular trackdays held at Texas World and Cresson, with an occassional trackday at Hallet. Oak Hill is available on some weekends if you have your CMRA license, but it's not an organized "trackday".
In addtion to the tracks the CMRA races on, there's Texas Motorplex or whatever that is that NASCAR races on. There are trackday's there, but I think it just uses a small portion of the highbank and the infield section (LeMans circuit? Not sure). That's an hour from Dallas.
If you have a smaller bike, there's a mini series that has some more tracks.
So, depending on what you ride, there's pleanty of tracks around. If you're racing, the CMRA is the local organization. If you're into trackdays, visit:
LSTD
or
Ridesmart
for scheduled events.
