| Austin Rollcall: Where are the hot routes around Austin?? Hello Texas,
Anyone in the AUSTIN area!! Just got back from a long ride today!! I had a two year hiatus in riding, but now back into it, and fairly new to the Austin area. Where are the hot routes around the area? Is Devil's Backbone any good?
Let me know....

| Re: Austin Rollcall: Where are the hot routes around Austin?? Been riding the Austin/Round Rock area for about a year now....One word of caution, don't post any ride routes on forums as the PoPo seem to hang out and use the info to snare the riders on the route or at least that is what happened last July when they trapped 10 of us on lime creek doing 59 in a 40. Sorry, I still have some issues with that day. Steer clear of 1431 and LimeCreek if possible, mucho trouble to be found there. Sorry for such a bummer post but once again, the PoPo are cracking down on the smallest of infractions. PR4 is also being watched very diligently by the Rangers. Check the TSBA.ORG site for the Sunday rides. They are getting good numbers and seem to be having good routes with minimal PoPo interaction. |

I do 1431 quite a bit, but watch my pace through LV. I will check the site out. Right, now I only have been riding with a buddy of mine from California whose in town for work. We've been trying to do a different route each weekend. Sometimes it lame, and somtimes it good.
If you ever want to ride, let me know when you ride next. How's group you ride with?? |

| Re: Austin Rollcall: Where are the hot routes around Austin?? Since the group ticket, I have been doing my own thing for the most part. That is also due to my compressed work week. I am off every Sun, Mon and Tues and every other Wed so I can only group ride on Sundays but that is usually reserved for family time. The group is good from my limited experience with them. The fast group is too much of a risk since I am on deferred adjudication until April 6th and not as confident in my skills yet. The moderately quick group is pretty good with several experienced riders so it stays safe. The slow group is just as it says but still fun as most are still very experienced. They meet up South close to "Y" in Oak Hill at a place called Wild Ride Saloon. The best riding is still out in Leakey pronounced "Lakey" but it is a 2hr ride just to get there. Lots of elevation change, good roads and little traffic. Lots of fun for the groups Spring IBI rides. You will find out more about that by reading the TSBA.ORG sight. Lots of good folks there. |
