Texas Flood

Well there's floodin' down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
Well there's floodin' down in Texas
All of the telephone lines are down
And I've been tryin' to call my baby
Lord and I can't get a single sound

Well dark clouds are rollin' in
Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Well dark clouds are rollin' in
Man I'm standin' out in the rain
Yeah flood water keep a rollin'
Man it's about to drive poor me insane

Well I'm leavin' you baby
Lord and I'm goin' back home to stay
Well I'm leavin' you baby
Lord and I'm goin' back home to stay
Well back home are no floods or tornados
Baby and the sun shines every day

Pool midway through rework....Monday afternoon

Where does all the dirt come from????

Our backyard flooded Sunday night/Monday morning. We had the pool pump going full blast wasting the water out to the street, but the rain rate and the amount of water pouring in from the neighbor's yard was just too much. I seeped into the house too, but not too bad...and mainly on the tile floor. The brand new carpet in the guest bedroom was wet about 2 feet into the room but we had carpet folks out the next morning and were able to salvage it.

Actually at this point, it's kinda old hat to fix the pool. We've drained/refilled it several times so that we can do it in about 24 hours flat (most of that is just fill time).

I think we ended up with about 5 inches/hour Sunday night for about an hour and a half. Monday was relatively dry, but Tuesday fired up again, but not at the same rate...maybe 2 inches an hour. Local lakes peaked yesterday (finally).

I wish we would get some of that RAIN in West Texas,

The damn dry line starts east of us and grows as it goes.
My pool pulls dirt from the air
(dust bowl over here)!

That seems to be the way this time of year on Texas....feast or famine. We were a little heavy on the "feast" side for my taste, but on a good note, my grass has never been greener

Re: Any Texans affected by the floods?

I had a few trees get damaged, although not nearly as bad as my neighbor. The tree that was beside their driveway one day was IN their driveway the next. And I was only without power for about 4 hours - instead of 4-5 days like some peoople. No damage here at the house - at work was another story. MY office was the one that leaked.... and boy did it! There was a tree limb in the gutter on the roof and it punctured the gutter. My office has been SOAKED. And inspite of fans blowing 24-7 on the carpet it still smells to high heaven in there. I really want to vacate that office and move up to the server room - it's THAT bad.... We'll see.

And like Cyber said - my grass has never been greener. Now will someone please mow it? LOL

Re: Any Texans affected by the floods?

HA! That wind storm was something else! We don't have any trees that are big enough to have received any damage, but there was pleanty in my neighborhood. Almost everyone has a pile of limbs waiting for bulk trash to pick up. We lost power for about 24 hours...not too bad compared to about 6 others houses in my neighborhood that lost it for 4 days (their individual transformer blew, but the repair crews had bigger fish to fry).

One odd thing...if you look at that first picture I posted, you'll see a tree arcing to the right in the upper right hand portion of the picture. That tree isn't snapped or broken...it's just bent. It's been like that since the windstorm (well over a week at this point). I'm not sure if it's going to come back to vertical or not. The tree is still in the ground, and there's no visible evidence that the roots shifted or anything....it's just bent.

We sure do get some odd weather on occassion.

the rain was crazy in corinth. Ive had rain 11 of the past 12 days. Yesterday the city had the nerve to put a warning on my door saying i needed to mow. I guess they think i have some sort of lawnmower that can mulch in the rain.... idiots.

The city "warning" you to mow your yard????? That never ceases to amaze me.
