Ate it at TWS

Last session of the day. I decide to take it easy and ride slow. It has been a long *hot* day and I am feeling worn out. Should've listened to the angel on my shoulder and just bench raced.

Came out of turn 8 and I guess my mind just floated because I came into turn 9 too hot. I was already past my ref point when I realized I was going to crash and I tried my hardest to save it. Obviously I didn't , but I was able make it not as bad. I only fell from a couple feet and was able to hit the tire wall at a small angle.

Bike is only slightly damaged. Rashed fairing, broken brake lever, dented can. I didn't bruise or brake anything, just have a juge headache from my head hitting the wall.

Pictures of damage:

Aww, dude! That is too bad. I'm glad you weren't injured, but the slightest mark on a pristine motorcycle sucks big time!

Re: Ate it at TWS

Glad you're ok. Looks like the bike isn't too bad. Did it wear a hole through the right side lower at the engine case? I did that on mine.

I've had similar experiences at track days/schools also. Gets to the end of the day and I'm feeling tired. Couple times I've kept going and riden the last session but a few other times I've packed it in. Not a big deal. Good feeling to know your limits sometimes.

glad you did not get hurt! I saw a yellow 929 track bike on a flat-bed trailer headed south early Sat Morning and wondered if he was headed to TWS...

I'm very happy to see that you and your bike aren't more seriously harmed. When you said turn 9, I freaked for a minute. That is NOT the place to go down at TWS!!! I know that there have been at least TWO deaths of CMRA racers at that wall, which is why I always tip-toe through that turn.

And for those that don't know, behind the tire wall is a concrete wall.

Yeah, I dunno what I was doing coming out of 8. I shouldnt have gone out that last session at all. Luckily I didnt lose it until I was at a very small angle to the wall. Still hurt like hell though. The instructor with the repsol 600rr stopped and when he found out I was ok, he told me the last person to hit that spot passed away. Kinda crazy, I am sure I am not as fast as the CMRA guys, but its still a little scary.
