Need new service shop

I just moved to Harrison Township in Michigan. Ive only been in the Detroit area for a about a year and I am unfamiliar with the motorcycle shops around here as my bike spent most of it's time back home in Ohio. My apartment complex won't allow ANY auto or moto work to be done on the property. Does anyone here from the area know who I can trust to do service on my bike and not get raped on price. I really just need routine stuff done, just the type of thing they won't allow at my apartment. I'm on schedule for an oil/filter change and chain maintainence. Also I noticed a frame bolt vibrated loose and is MIA. I just noticed it last night while checking the oil; I wonder how long ago that happened.

Re: Need new service shop

I'm working on finding a friend with space. The problem is that there aren't any people my age where I work or play that own a house, in fact I think there migh be probably 4 out of 2500 that are my age.... All the older people have a family and a packed garage to show for it or wouldn't have the space or patience to permit motorcycle work. I thought about just renting a garage, but prices aren't what I'm used to in Ohio. 5x10 garage(with no electricity) that is about 30 minutes away they want $85/month and no 24/7 access. So I didn't even check for something big enough to work in.

screw the apartment place. throw that thing up on the rear stand, slide some cardboard under it, change the oil, lube the chain and throw the frame bolt in.

if they yell at you for the putting in the frame bolt and lubing the chain I say **** them and find another place to live so you don't have to deal with those nazis. I can see the oil thing as they don't want the lot messed up.

Re: Need new service shop

I just may end up doing that. I think the reason they don't want any work done in the lot is about their "image" I got some looks for changing a FLAT the other day on my truck. No one said anything but the people watching had that "I'm all high and mighty" look going on.

Re: Need new service shop

General maintenance would probably be okay.
The apt. does not want a month long engine swap going on with a beater up on blocks leaking all its fluids out.
Would they yell at someone fixing a chain on a bicycle?
