People to ride with in Fort Worth TX.

I'm looking for someone to ride with in the South West Forth Worth area. Preferebly on the weekend. Just moved here a few months ago.

Re: People to ride with in Fort Worth TX.

So have you found anyone to ride with and/or discovered any good roads around here?

I just moved to Ft. Worth a couple weeks ago and only know how to get back and forth to work and home.

I have ridden some roads southwest of town in Johnson and Hood counties and they have some fun fast sweepers, but thats all I know of this area. I figured the best motorcycling benefit to moving here would be it's closer to Arkansas.

Actually, I have not found a decent road near home. One with the right amount of traffic, decent asphalt and fun turns. I'm sure they're out there, but I work about 50 hours a week + 8 hours of college + homework + honeydolist + ... well you get the point, so I mostly commute everyday on the bike.
Right now my bike is waiting to have the one front rotor replaced. I just got the parts yesterday. Hopefully I'll finish this over the weekend and I'll be ready to ride.
Keep in touch.

Ok I cleaned it out. Had a lot of old messages in there. The last one was to Sirkbac.

Re: People to ride with in Fort Worth TX.

I was down in your area (FT Hood) back in June.

It's a couple of hours south of you but Lime Creek Road is definitely worth riding. Lime Creek Road

Check the link posted in there too. The motorcycle roads website has tons of roads listed just some, like Cow Creek Road, aren't what they're listed to be. But it's worth riding out to find out.

Re: People to ride with in Fort Worth TX.

Yeah, anything around Austin/Hill Country is good. The 33Xs around Leakey are the best roads in the state. Lime Creek Road is very fun although its gotten a lot of attention and the popo is there very often. Last time I went down Cow Creek Road it seemed more appropriate for a KLR than a Tuono.

That was the problem I had. The motorcycle road website had it listed as a good road for sportbikes. I don't know who posted it or what sportbike they were riding but it was a half hour of torture to get to where I was going from there.

Yeah, around here if you were a prosthetic denture and you ride a sports bike you're better off leaving the denture at home...

Yeah the pavement here is pretty bad. I've got pretty stiff suspension on my bike so I may need to get a more deeply padded seat.

I am also new to the area. I live in Aledo (west of Ft. Worth) and work in Arlington. I am up for exploring. There have to be some good roads around. FM-5 is right by my house and it is nice.

Re: People to ride with in Fort Worth TX.

After having my bike here not even a week, I am debating selling it and spending the money to wrap myself in bubblewrap 24/7. I miss my small town traffic.

I moved to Ft. Worth from Miami. I moved to Miami form Valencia, Spain. So far it just keeps getting better.
This traffic is nothing compared to other more... mmmmm... advanced places, but yeah, compared to some small town traffic it's still pretty stressing.
I should have finished fixing my bike late on Saturday.
Anyone up for a ride on Sunday?

Re: People to ride with in Fort Worth TX.

I only moved a short distance from Dallas. That is bad traffic/drivers! Still, I only ride on weekends for pleasure. I try to stay out of town. The last 2 weekends involved me trailering my bike to the hill country to ride.
I actually quit riding because of time constraints and city traffic. I always kept a bike, but did not have the desire to ride in town. I am trying to get back into it.
This weekend is bad for me, taking the kids on a campout.

I hear what you're saying . I hate being stucked in traffic, is just that I grew up with much more agressive drivers/riders around me. Europe is craaaaazy when it comes to bikes. Other bikes are often more dangerous than cars.

Perhaps some other weekend then...

hmm trailering to the hill country sounds just fine to me. Next mod I am doing to the bike is outfitting it with a 135db steibel horn.

Re: People to ride with in Fort Worth TX.

Well after two months here, I hate it for bike riding. I have to ride clogged interstates/highways for an hour to get to anything appearing to be fun.

I can understand why stunters and bar pirates are so popular here.

We are close. You would take 1187 to Aledo and south 3 miles on FM-5. I am new to the area. Are you familiar with places to ride?

I am unavailable this weekend. Going to visit my girlfriend.

Maybe the weekend after. You guys go find some good roads and then give me a call. VCS has my number.

Nope. We're in the same boat . I just moved here a few months ago. There's a website that shows some good routes but I forgot the address . I'll try to find it. If someone else reads this and knows it, please, do chime in. Thanks.
Even better if you know of any good rides around Ft. Worth... it would be appreciated.

Contact "The Pete".

Check on Two Wheeled Texans too. I rode Lime Creek Road when I was at FT Hood this summer. Here's my writeup from earlier this summer. It has the link to the motorcycle road site I used to find it.

Be warned though. Like I wrote in the thread, the site isn't always completely accurate.
