| first time at the drag strip! went to the drag strip today for opening day test&tune and had a blast. first run i was nervous and ran against my buddies f3, he cut a .506 light and with his -1 +3 gearing he got me off the line but i reeled him in with my 11.9@123mph. second run was against a vrod. i WALKED him with an 11.3@127mph to his 13.7. 3rd run was my best. i lined up against a busa and got him off the line, but his top end reeled me in. he ran a 10.7@134mph to my 11.11@131mph. all in all it was ****in awesome, i have pics and video that i can post up if someone can host the vids. |

My best was this year before I had the extensions on with a 10.56. I should be low 10's now with the extensions and custom map. I also have the front end strapped. Keep up the good work and post your times again when you go back. |

Maybe someone can chime in with low 10's in the quarter and see what their 1/8 mile times were. I just ran a 6.52 last night in the 1/8th. |

I'm currently running 1.6xx's in the 60'. Another guy I race with w/ a 954 also like mine, is running 1.51-1.53 60' times, and running 6.23's in the 1/8th and 9.90's in the 1/4...he has some head work done though and is using an airshifter. |

| Re: first time at the drag strip! I found this: http://www.sportbikes.net/forums/mem...ls&userid=1240 and it has an 1/8 time of 6.7 - that's the closest and it's a 10.3 1/4 (on a 954). |

| Re: first time at the drag strip! I have an 03 red/black 954 streched 5", one tooth down front sprokit, lowered, yoshi bolt on and ran a 6.45 at 109 1/8 mile. Just installed a micron serpent full exhaust. Maybe I'll get to go to the track here shortly. |

| Re: first time at the drag strip! Should have the 1000RR at the strip this year soon. Just waiting on the speedlinks to be finished and delivered so I can get them put on along with the front strap.. Hoping to spend a good deal of time at the strip this year.

| Re: first time at the drag strip! Snigg: Very nice times. I see your from Pittsburgh, i'm just east of you in Johnstown. What track are you going too?? Pittsburghraceway.com?? I'll have to meet up with you so you can give me some pointers. I never raced a bike at the strip before.
If you do go to PittsburghRaceway can you let me know the requirements you have to have to run?? Thanks |

| Re: first time at the drag strip! It sounds like you're doing well on the bike. Most people run 13's on their first outing at the Strip. Good job. Keep up the good work and always try to do better. |

If I could get over the fear of wheelin I think I could cut my 60ft times down some... my bike is pretty stock other than a LeoVinci Highmount Exhaust and a Power Commander with a downloaded map (did same times before the powercommander as I did after it.. only difference is the throttle response is much snappier) ...

Just messing with ya.
Will be back at the 1/8th Saturday, hopefully it will continue to loosen up and I can run some 6.teens on motor. Can't make to the friday night t&t to break it in more, just too hard taking 3 dogs to the track and all of us in the camper. |

| Re: first time at the drag strip! Sweet reaction times everyone. My best believe it or not is a .001. Every dog has its day.
Need to get the R-1 down to the strip. Miss that stuff.
WSIR one way and LACR the other.
Good luck everyone. |

Originally Posted by sonicsbomb We tried the lowered bike thing toots And 4 to 5k rpm thats easy too try 9k and let the clutch fly | hey your old 954 dont' count... I was too nervous on her to push my luck.. not to mention i totally screwed up on teh air shifting deal... (since someone told me to watch the red light but there was no red light to be seen since the sun was behind me and made it impossible to see it ) then the second try I was still tryin to shift manually cuz that's what I was use too and by then ... you gave up on me ...said I was embarrasing your bike
now Marc's maroon bike is another deal... THAT one I could easily launch her at 5k without fear and my first run was an easy 10.2 and again forgetting to airshift half the time LOL.... then he had to go a sell it to TK... couple more times to get use to it and I think I could have gotten it to a 10.0 but then his kill switch thingymajig was cutting the gas out going down the strip and that was the last I got to ride her
NOW if you wanna let me try the BUSA .... let's talk after all she matches my leathers already
E.
yeah yeah... I know she's got too much power for me
