| Re: Drag Racing? Tip #1: Don't race a Hayabusa or ZX-12R.
Tip #2: Search sportrider.com and motorcyclistonline.com; both sites have some basic drag racing information for you.
I recall a guy here running a bone stock 954 and, cutting a good light, ran a 10.50 at about 135. Still, the quarter mile is not the CBR's best trick. Not heavy, long or powerful enough to go REALLY fast.
Good luck. |

| Re: Drag Racing? I have done it only in one occasion
First run was 12.8 with some 0.8sec reaction time and 2.4sec 60ft. Fastest one was 0.412 reaction, 1.9 60ft and 11.5 ET. As total I made 12 runs and participated to bracket race- and I won- NOS equipped ZX-12R in a final :-). My index was 11.5 and kawa had 9.5
I have let some people to tell me that if you are able to take away 0.1 sec from 60ft time it will mean 0.3sec in ET. So the goal should be somewhere 1.6-1.7 sec 60ft time so 10.5 is possible...also for me...in the future...far, far away
Any advice... Keep all the weight as front as possible, use the max torque rev for start and let it go- practice a lot with the clutch- you don't want to make wheelies |

| Re: Drag Racing? A technique you may NOT want to try......
'........i would crack the throttle and dump the clutch, which would redline the bike ' '....... What i was told to do was to give it a little gas and dump......That MuthrFckr came right up ( headlight was on trees)........now to ride em out!! .....................' |

| Yeah, 10.5 IS pretty effing fast.
But since both the 'bus and 12R are high nine second machines, I reserve the right to call them REALLY effing fast. |

| Re: Drag Racing? My best time was 11.1, .518 reaction and 1.8sec 60ft. I've practiced on the 8th mile since so maybe I can get it below 11. I switched to a 15t front, and its hard to keep the front end down, but it should also help to break 11 sec.

| Re: Drag Racing? Well, i have an old blade, but it still hauls s at the strip here in Aruba it has a fastest E.t. of 10.87sec about 135mph without any mods, it's a 1993 900rr fireblade and ran that time bone stock!.. awesome huh???
this end of the month we have a big race again, this time I've stretched the swing arm a little bit so it doesn't make wheelie and put a racing slick and have a D&D show chrome carbon fibre collector. other than that the bike is stock.
Maybe you guys could take a glimpse at www.telearuba.com on 28,29 and 30th august.... |
