| Back to the Track Well, after the motor was finally back in the bike and I was able to put about 50 break in miles on it I went to the track Friday night for test and tune and Saturday for our first points race of the season.
Finished 3rd, but 1st in points.
I need to adjust the map in it to get the power back into it. Running the same as I did last year, so with the new map it should take me down to 6.teens - 6.0's in the 1/8th on motor.
Best run was a 6.23 @ 114.31, with a sorry 1.57 60 foot. I'm rusty on the line, with the rest of my 60's in the 1.60's. I didn't spray on a full pass b/c I want to make sure everything is seated good first. I did bump it in my final race of the night but broke out. Will update soon. |

| Re: Back to the Track Those are good numbers Silver. No NOS??? I'm impressed. You should be real close to a 5 sec 1\8 mile time when you get everything dialed in and fire up the bottles.
I ran this past Thursday. I haven't ran in a while myself. I'm not sure what was wrong with me. I couldn't push anything lower than 11's in the quarter.
I'm going to work on a few things such as suspension, Keihin Flats, Nitrous, adjust compression, etc. I want to see 9 sec before the end of the year. |

The Honda's are fast, they may not be the most popular at the track, but the can be winners. Consistency wins points, not just fast. |

| Re: Back to the Track What all is done to your bike to run 6.23 in the 1/8th? I have a 01 929 stretched to 59 inch, lowered 3 in rear, front is straped down,46 tooth rear with 15 front,Shinkos front and rear for tires, Erion pipe, power com.3r,Dale Walker ps3 electro shift. Stock motor 8500 miles 92 octane ride to track and home. Never more than one gallon of fuel in bike.At our track we race points on wed.nights 1/8th mile. And friday and sat. nights we race 1/4 mile test and tune from 7:00 PM till 1:00AM. Our first race for points was yesterday, our first two races of the year are on sundays and are 1/4 Mile. The Bike ran 1.53 60s 4.09 330s 6.19 1/8s @114 8.09 1000FT and 9.70s @139 all day. I had a .008 light first shot of the year. Which was a second place qulifire to a .005 in the third and final time run. And i beat him in the finals with a .050 to his .122. It was a good day at the track. Let me know what you have done to your bike. Ihave thought about a dry shot cause the busas and 12s are all shoting juice and running 8.80s to 9.00s. Thanks |

| Re: Back to the Track Fatyellow. You can do a search for threads that I have made over the past couple years on here. I have some racing vids in one of my threads. The main stuff is this though:
Shaved head, port and polished; PC3, custom map; full Hindle exhaust; lowered enough to scrape the ground leaving the line; extended to 8-1/2 back, Shinko rear; auto-shift; VP fuel (MR-9 last year, MRX-01 this year), 40 shot dry NOS. I'm running the MRX-01 this year because I just finished installing higher compression JE pistons, Carrillo rods, new bearings. I have a NOS controller but haven't installed it yet, and not sure if I want to now since I run points and 99% bracket racing. Will run a grudge run once in awhile.
Last year 1/8th I ran 6.17 best on motor, consistantly 6.25-6.31 @ 114 motor.
NOS best of 6.07 @ 122.
Last year 1/4 I ran 9.56 best on motor @ 141. Consistantly 9.63-9.70 @ 139-140. Didn't get a full NOS pass due to air shifter problems and it wouldn't go into 5ht or 6th on NOS, but the best was 9.45 @ 144 when I did try it. Should have been around 9.30s on NOS.
This year should be around 6.0s-6.teens on motor and 5.90s on spray. Last year early dyno using MR1 was 153 rwhp. Shooting for 160 once I get the map adjusted this week.
My first 1/4 mile isnt scheduled to be until April8-9, but I may try to get one weekend in before that scheduled race for test and tune purposes.

| Re: Back to the Track Thanks for the info silverbullet, it is good to find some one who can run in the 9s with the cbrs. You must be on a 954? When you say auto shift are you running a shift minder or air/electric push button? I had talked with erion over this winter about cams and head work but they are all road racers and could not give info about drags. We bracket race alot and that is why i am not into the juice plus i ride to and from the track. With out a trailer it is not practical to run juice with no bottle to fill off of and scales ETC. I have played with the ultimate 4 fuel had had ok results about a tenth in the 1/4. My biggest problem is top end. For running 6.20s in the 1/8th i would like more than 9.70s in the top side. You say your getting 9.50s-60s. What is your weight i am 175 with out gear and have been starving myself all winter to shave off weight. Also cant break the 140 MPH mark, average 139.4. Was your motor stock until this year? You can check out our local web page it is www.NorthwestDragbike.com. My name in there is fatyellow as well. Again thanks for the info and keep me informed on what your 1/4 times are when you get a chance to run. Fatyellow NHRA#6124 |

| Re: Back to the Track FY, no, last year it had already been shaved, port and polished. yes, 2002 954. I'm 195 lbs. I must have a little more hp/tq than you since I was running 6.2s in the 1/8th and 9.60s consistantly in the 1/4. Last year was 153rwhp and I cant remember my tq, but it is in one or two of my other threads. (that was with MR1 fuel). I'll be putting it on the dyno tonight and adjusting the map.
I talked to Erions head mechanic several times in the past 2 months getting my bike set back up with the mods I was doing. He was very helpful and also suggested what I degreed my cams too. I need to get a PC3r and sell my PC3 so I can pull a tad of timing out, but I think I will hold off on it unless I find a deal or can swap. I'm also just a bracket racer, 2nd in points last year, but the NOS is a wonderful thing...I only use it if I spin off the line to make up time, or right at the finish to stay in front of the other rider. |

| UPDATE, DYNO pulls Well, we put it on the dyno last night. Was VERY disappointed to start with. We think the cams are degreed too high. Not only that, the MRX-01 fuel losses alot of hp compared to the MR1 on the dyno last year, then I switched to MR9, but I did not dyno it with MR9. First 2 pulls with MRX-01 only made 146hp and 71 lbs tq. Thats a loss of 7hp and 3-4 lbs tq from last year on MR1 on the dyno. We adjusted the map and still only made 146 and 71. We had a can of OLD MR9 from last year and decided to try that...holy cow, there's my power, 154 and 74.9. We adjusted the map again and made 156hp and 76 lbs tq. We then decided to spray it, same 184 as last year, but thats with old stale fuel. We then simulated a bigger shot of NOS by (playing, and while I ran the bike and sprayed the NOS, my mechanic took a sneaky bottle and sprayed some into the snorkel......lol, wow 197.4 and 96.7tq.) I will have new fuel Tuesday and going to try the bigger shot then to make sure the injectors can handle it. Going from a 36 jet to a 42 jet, which if memory serves me correctly, thats a 40 shot to 60 shot.

| Re: Back to the Track that kinda sucks that you did that work and didn't really gain anything. But also could be just different day, different weather. Some tweeking and I think you can get to the 160 mark. |

| Re: Back to the Track It really could be the fuel causing you the problems.
Our local track changed from VP fuels to using Torco. The Torco or whatever it is called sucked. It even fouled out plugs.
We went to a local VP supplier and fixed the problem. Power is back and no more fouling.
We literally saw the Busa go from running consistent 8.4 times to running a best of the day at 8.80 because of fuel. |

And the fact that its basically a new motor inside with all new fresh and STRONGER parts! I know the rods will hold the power, they are rated for around 600hp. |

| Re: Back to the Track Thats what I would think, but being on the conservative side. I know Orient Express was pushing over 400 last year, and they wanted to put more fuel in it to get more power. Wouldn't surprise me if it was more like 500+ but didnt want to publish it. |
