Re: 06 1000rr stock 1/4 mile times
Thank you.
I've been seeing the 4-6" extensions for sale on e-bay. I bookmarked them for reference, but don't know if I really need them right now...

Re: 06 1000rr stock 1/4 mile times
ya make me feel bad. i took mine to the local 1/8 mile track and i only ran a 7.20 but it was my first time on the track with the rr. i have ran the atvs out there before, but that bike is a whole new game. my first run was a 7.50 on the back wheel the whole way, my second was a 7.20 commin up bad, so after that i worked on my launches. looks like i am goin to need some more seat time. o, silverbullet, do you run out at north east dragway?

Yes, I run points at Northeast....currently #1, with the last points race this Saturday, Sep 9th. Wish me luck if you can't make it. I was at Outerbanks Speedway Monday, needed 2 more wins for the big $$$$$.

Re: 06 1000rr stock 1/4 mile times
hey silver bullet i broke my clutch basket last night and was wondering what you know about hinson or falicon baskets? it is under warranty but dont want to put a stocker back in. I had read that they were weak and can say yes they are. it is still stock power and only stretched and geared and lowered. It broke on the second to third gear shift and took out about a two inch chunk of the basket and one fiber tab. Have to drop the pan to get the peices out. It just made a slight viberation when it broke but still limped home like a good honda. Thank you for any info.

Sounds like the plate tabs had worn a groove into the basket fingers and developed a crack. I would guess that the clutch on any serious drag bike would be a weekly maintenance item due to the beating it takes from repeated launches.
On a roadracer, I take the clutch apart every other race weekend and have been able to stop a serious problem before it turned into a dnf. Roadracing only has one launch per 20 miles or so of running, so those 1500 miles must translate into a lot of launches . . .

Re: 06 1000rr stock 1/4 mile times
i have been riding and racing atvs for a while and have seen the stock baskets gernade in them. we have changed them out with the hinsons and had no problems with them. we have also used the brand x baskets and had no problem with them. i know that comparing atvs to bikes is like apples to oranges, but for what its worth we so alot of asphalt dragging with the atvs so we are stressing the components hard also. hope this helps.

Re: 06 1000rr stock 1/4 mile times
thanks for the info. i talked with falicon today and they will build me a bullet proof basket for 408.00 dollars. My 929 would eat a clutch every month but never broke a basket. Yes it does have a lot of launches but no grooves on basket or inner hub. i am sponsered buy our local honda shop so it is going there in the morning to flush and check the motor. I will send the broke basket to falicon to get that process rolling as well. Thanks again.

Re: 06 1000rr stock 1/4 mile times
sorry to bring up an old thread
anyways just wondering what you used for a lowering link?all the stuff ive seen have only been 1-3" drop
how about the kickstand, did you need to have it shortened?
lastly did you end up strapping the front or just sliding the forks up in the perches?
thanks for any help, track opens up next month so im ready!!

Re: 06 1000rr stock 1/4 mile times
You can get a lowering link from Schnitzracing.com. I use the threaded bolt lowering link and love it. Easy to adjust down and up for track or street riding.
You can pull the forks up, but you should use a strap to keep the forks from compressing so much.

Re: 06 1000rr stock 1/4 mile times
What is going on with Motorcyclist Magazine and their 1/4 mile times and horsepower figures? They reported 9.89 seconds at 146.5 on a stock '06 CBR 1000RR, and 158.9 horsepower at the rear wheel. A buddy of mine had his '06 RR dynoed and it only made 145 at the rear wheel with a slip-on muffler and a K & N filter. The so-called "hard data" page that the mag had (it is now on their website) is obviously highly unreliable. Makes you wonder if the times are fabricated to help the manufacturers sell motorcycles. For example, the 1/4 mile times reported here are significantly slower than the Motorcyclist Mag times. What gives?
