just bought a 06 cbr 1000rr last week, took it to the track last night with 530 miles no mods at all just as it came off the floor.
1.80 60 ft.
6.75 @ 114.32 1/8th 10.20@141.07 1/4 mile
Short shift 1st at about 7500, pull the front up in 2nd and breakin traction.
I am still waiting for some parts to get it all done. It will be 6 inch streched 5 inch lowered, 4 up on the rear and straped. our track will be closed for the next two weeks for the champ cars are in town at portland ore. By then the bike will be done. I will keep posting the results after the bike is done. I expect it to run 9.3s @ 144-146. Currently i run a 01 929 with the same mods as the 1000 is getting and it runs 6.2s @ 113 in the 1/8th and high 9.6s @ 138-139 1/4s with 1.55s on the 60 ft. My weight is 200 in my gear, altitude is 200 Ft. If i had a strap on the 1000 i think it would have been around 10.00.

Nice times for a stock bike. What power mods have you done to the 929 running 9.6s?
Take care,

My 929 mods are not alot. Lowered 3 inch stretched 5.5 inch,15 tooth counter shaft and 45 tooth on rear, strapped in the front, dale walker ps3 electric shift, erion full system with pc3r,stock air filter and no flapper in the air box.I run a shinko 003 on the rear and thats about it. The exhaust did not give the dyno numbers that erion claims,it picked up about 3 horse power after dyno tuned. The stock air filter made 4 more horse power than the k&n did. Gota love the R&D honda does they get alot out of a motor that small.By the way it made 135 horse on the dyno.

Good times. I'm 6.teens-6.20's on my 54. I have more done though, and 159rwhp on MR9. 1.53-1.60, 60' times. Lost a little bit in the hand recently due to only running points races. Gonna hit one or 2 test and tunes before next points race so I don't lose my #1 spot.

well i made some 1/8th mile runs last night. First pass 1.64 60 Ft. 6.34 @116 mph. 2nd was 1.61 60ft 6.32 @116 mph. Third pass i hit it a little harder 1.57 60 ft. 6.25 @115 Mph. Not as good as i hoped but i know it has alot more in it. Its different than the 929 because of the hydraulic clutch. So i dialed a 6.28. I had a .013 light to his.081 and his dial of 6.62, caught him right after 330 ft shut it off with out brakes and went 6.27 @ 102 MPH. 1.56 60 ft and 4.10 330 ft on that pass. Would have been in the teens. I will run again friday night 1/4 mile passes. The last pass i slid the clutch out alot more which it seems to like instead of getting it out quick and wacking the throttle. Will post results after fridays runs.

Went out friday night with the 06 1000rr. Not as well as i had hoped, 1.57 60 ft, 6.22 @ 116mph 1/8 th and 9.63 @141 was its best. It needs more gearing for the 60ft but it has such high first gear 2.538 ratio to be exact as where the 929 is 2.692. Right now the 1000rr has a 45 rear 16 front and the 929 is 45 15. but both bikes are going through the traps at 11,300-11,500 rpm in 5th gear. So more gearing on the 1000 will mean using all 6 gears, or change out the first gear to a different ratio. I will try a 46 tooth this week and let you know what happens.

Thank you.
I've been seeing the 4-6" extensions for sale on e-bay. I bookmarked them for reference, but don't know if I really need them right now...

ya make me feel bad. i took mine to the local 1/8 mile track and i only ran a 7.20 but it was my first time on the track with the rr. i have ran the atvs out there before, but that bike is a whole new game. my first run was a 7.50 on the back wheel the whole way, my second was a 7.20 commin up bad, so after that i worked on my launches. looks like i am goin to need some more seat time. o, silverbullet, do you run out at north east dragway?

Yes, I run points at Northeast....currently #1, with the last points race this Saturday, Sep 9th. Wish me luck if you can't make it. I was at Outerbanks Speedway Monday, needed 2 more wins for the big $$$$$.

hey silver bullet i broke my clutch basket last night and was wondering what you know about hinson or falicon baskets? it is under warranty but dont want to put a stocker back in. I had read that they were weak and can say yes they are. it is still stock power and only stretched and geared and lowered. It broke on the second to third gear shift and took out about a two inch chunk of the basket and one fiber tab. Have to drop the pan to get the peices out. It just made a slight viberation when it broke but still limped home like a good honda. Thank you for any info.

Sounds like the plate tabs had worn a groove into the basket fingers and developed a crack. I would guess that the clutch on any serious drag bike would be a weekly maintenance item due to the beating it takes from repeated launches.
On a roadracer, I take the clutch apart every other race weekend and have been able to stop a serious problem before it turned into a dnf. Roadracing only has one launch per 20 miles or so of running, so those 1500 miles must translate into a lot of launches . . .

i have been riding and racing atvs for a while and have seen the stock baskets gernade in them. we have changed them out with the hinsons and had no problems with them. we have also used the brand x baskets and had no problem with them. i know that comparing atvs to bikes is like apples to oranges, but for what its worth we so alot of asphalt dragging with the atvs so we are stressing the components hard also. hope this helps. |

thanks for the info. i talked with falicon today and they will build me a bullet proof basket for 408.00 dollars. My 929 would eat a clutch every month but never broke a basket. Yes it does have a lot of launches but no grooves on basket or inner hub. i am sponsered buy our local honda shop so it is going there in the morning to flush and check the motor. I will send the broke basket to falicon to get that process rolling as well. Thanks again.

sorry to bring up an old thread
anyways just wondering what you used for a lowering link?all the stuff ive seen have only been 1-3" drop
how about the kickstand, did you need to have it shortened?
lastly did you end up strapping the front or just sliding the forks up in the perches?
thanks for any help, track opens up next month so im ready!!

You can get a lowering link from Schnitzracing.com. I use the threaded bolt lowering link and love it. Easy to adjust down and up for track or street riding.
You can pull the forks up, but you should use a strap to keep the forks from compressing so much.

What is going on with Motorcyclist Magazine and their 1/4 mile times and horsepower figures? They reported 9.89 seconds at 146.5 on a stock '06 CBR 1000RR, and 158.9 horsepower at the rear wheel. A buddy of mine had his '06 RR dynoed and it only made 145 at the rear wheel with a slip-on muffler and a K & N filter. The so-called "hard data" page that the mag had (it is now on their website) is obviously highly unreliable. Makes you wonder if the times are fabricated to help the manufacturers sell motorcycles. For example, the 1/4 mile times reported here are significantly slower than the Motorcyclist Mag times. What gives?
