what the difference?

what is the main performance difference between an airshifter and a dynojet quickshifter. I got ready to put my mps airshifter on and its gonna require alot of modifications to get it to work so im thinking of just going to a quickshifter

Re: what the difference?

The quickshifter still requires the rider to use his or her foot to upshift which activates the system to stall the engine for a micro sec and allows the bike to change gears. The air shifter usually has a button that you push to stall the engine and activates the shifter at the same time. So if you want to use your foot to change gears then go with the quickshifter but if you want to let your feet fly then go with the air shifter

What kind of problems are you having with the install? Electrical or mounting the cylinder?

With either the quickshifter or the MPS (or any other) air shifter you are still going to have to tap into your coils as they both kill ignition to allow the shift. With the air shift it will shift for you, with the quick shift you still have to move your foot.

If you already have the MPS then I'd stick with it. I have air shift and love it. I have a cycletek system and the install wasn't bad at all - MPS can't be that much different. LIke I said earlier - what's stumping the install? PM me if you want.

I'd hate to sep on ya, but the Dyno Jet Quickshift also has a push button at the bars to shift up. You still have to manual downshift. For the Quickshift setup you need to buy the following:

I'd hate to sep on ya, but the Dyno Jet Quickshift also has a push button at the bars to shift up. You still have to manual downshift. For the Quickshift setup you need to buy the following:
  • Power Commander $350
  • Ignition Module $350
  • Quickshifter $270
  • Handlebar Switch $100
  • Shifter Rod Kit $15
As you can see, it is going to get very expensive. Its cheaper to buy rearsets the convert to reverse shift pattern. Here's the link to Dyno Jet, Inc. if you care to see what you need for your bike;

Re: what the difference?

That must be a brand new product. There are at least 5 guys around here with quickshifters - and they have to shift manually - there is no pneumatic or electric ram cylinder to actually actuate the shifter.

Even so that pricing is hilarious. CycleTek sells a complete CO2 system that is arguably the best out there for $350 - and that is complete.

The system is pretty good, but as johnnyrcash said, expensive. The ignition module is supposed to drop the RPM when you shift. You can also sign a waiver for your bike and DynoJet will program the module so you get like 500 to 800 more R's over the factory rev limiter setting.

Re: what the difference?

DQS allows full-throttle, clutchless upshift in racing and performance riding applications.
Handlebar activation switch is used when a shift rod/lever mounted sensor is illegal, as in certain racing applications, will not fit on a specific model, or is not chosen by the rider.
The handlebar switch requires the rider to lightly pre-load the shift lever, press the switch and manuall complete the final shifter movement.
Power Commander Control Center software lets you set the engine dead time between shifts (shift kill time) and the minimum engine rpm at which the system begins operating

Just copied that off the dyno jet website - so, for those that were asking - I was right. The dynojet quickshift WILL NOT shift for you - there is no electric or pneumatic system in it that would shift for you.

It only kills the ignition and you still have to use your foot. Pretty much worthless for drag racing - but at least it's REALLY REALLY expensive LOL!
