| Re: 06 cbr1000rr launch My friend got his Hinsen installed and is very happy with it. Only had it in for a couple days so he was still getting used to it but his 60's dropped .2+ and 1/4's dropped from 10.5-6's@142 to his best run on Saturday was 10.06@142 (corrected altittude was 6000ft for the day!). Once he races it a few times and gets it dialed in he sould be in the high 9's. |

| Re: 06 cbr1000rr launch There was a design problem with the clutch on the RR's but it was supposedly corrected by Honda. I remember the superbike guys had the same problem when trying to launch at the starts. Guys like Duhamel were even breaking clutch baskets. A guy at the strip with a 2005 Repsol warned me before I made my runs that be careful because the clutch will suddenly engage hard shortly after you begin to leave. That had me scared but in the two passes I made, I had no problems. My problems were more keeping the front down.
An upgraded or aftermarket clutch may be your answer.

| Re: 06 cbr1000rr launch Daily riding is fine(at least it was for me) But I tried said clutch mod and it worked great for a few but shortly after that it went bad again. So I tried another restack to where I installed 2 metal plates first and then fiber metal fiber metal and so on until the outer hub would fit correctly. (Dont know the exact number) But I would highly recommend a lockup clutch from MTC and modded cover for quick access with this mod if you are aggressive off the line as it will blue the metals fairly quickly. |

| Re: 06 cbr1000rr launch Ok I'm 5'11 and 145 on a 061kRR how the HECK do I get out of the whole faster without lowering it. LOL Or doing any major mods i could use some instructions on when the back tire breaks loose.

| Re: 06 cbr1000rr launch Either pull in the clutch a bit or back off the throttle. Either way, I always found that the clutch engagement wasn't as consistent on my '06 as it is on my '03, likely due to the hydraulic clutch on the '06. Make sure your tire is aired down and try different rear preload settings to optimize grip for your particular setup. You may want to try an adjustable link for the rear. As you get faster, you can start to go back to stock height over time- it's like using the lowering link as a "training wheel".
BTW, in my opinion and I am certainly no expert, front lowering straps are unsafe because they take away your ability to countersteer should a sliding rear tire move sideways. Don't ask me how I know! If you do want to lower your bike, at least at the beginning, slide the fork tubes up the triple clamp. Between this and the adjustable rear link, you can eventually creep back to stock height and hopefully maintain your times.
Drag racing is like golf- fraught with frustration but with enough of an occasional glimmer to keep you coming back for more!
Good luck!
