| drag racing Anyone in here dragrace their bike on the track? Id like some helpful hints on adjustments i should make on my 929 to make it a hi 9 or low 10s bike if my 929 is capable of going that fast. I strap my front down i have a Power commander on it and a jardeen slipon i would love a full exhaust system if anyone has one in here for sale thats in good shape. im 205lbs and dropping hopefully be 180 by race season this year. i ran 11.0s this past year my first time on it and my mphs was 129 to 130. Should i adjust my power commander to more mid power or low end power please help my best 60ft was 1.98 would like to get it in the 1.8 or 1.7s. Also wondering if i lower my backend down if that would help alot more also. Thanks for the help and sorry i wrote a book here but i love this stuff. |

| Re: drag racing You can get a low 10 easily. I weigh 225 and I use to run 9.9 on my 929 stk 954 motor. I would run 9.50 with a small shot of juice. Girlfriend rides it now, no spray and runs 9.30 at 145 |

| Re: drag racing Short times in the 2.0's (you said 1.98 was your best) is where the problem lies. Practice your launches, tie the front down, lower the bike, and soften pre-load on the rear shock. Gear the crap out of it too! I went -1/+3 on my Hurricane 1000 when I ran it and it could have been geared a bit lower! Don't be afraid to waste a clutch learning how to launch, you will go through them. Your 60' times should be in the 1.4 range if you are gonna be in the low 10's. |

| Re: drag racing My last dragbike was a 1000 Hurricane. Never ran it in the 1/4, but it ran 6.60 flat @108 in the 1/8 with 1049 kit and FCR's. It was 4 over. If his bike is stock length, 1.40s is gonna be hard to come up with.
I don't put alot of faith in 1/4 mile times out of magazines. They are "corrected" times.

| Re: drag racing Practice, Practice, Practice!!! I don't think you will get into the 9's unless you go in the motor, and stretch it. I did it just stretched on my 954 years ago with 1.65 60's.
1.53 60's......205-210lbs with street clothes, ALOT of motor work, R&D TESTING and over 120 dyno runs changing the map...best of 9.53 on VP MR9 fuel, and 9.69 on pump gas.

| Re: drag racing Ran 10.2 on my 929. It was at the time stock except for the tires (I think Michelin Pilots at the time) I had a Yosh can and strapped the front down.
I weighed about 185 at the time and this was several years ago so I don't know the rest of the numbers but I do have that timeslip some were as I was impressed with it. I ran 11.1 the first time and kept trying different launching till I got that run. Its all in the launch really you can lose alot of time by not launching aggresively and then again you launch too aggresice and it stands up on you. |

| Re: drag racing Wow thats wierd I have not been on the site in a while but I just did this for my first time last weekend. This was a rush having all kinds of people in the stands watching you and not knowing who the guy is paired up with you on the grid and who knows what he has done to the bike. Yes lots of adrenaline going LOL Well my first pass I dropped the clutch at like 4K and the bike just stuck to the track like in slow motion and I felt like the bike just lowered 2 inches at went no where here are the numbers LEFT LANE
R/T .006
60' 2.5 {LOL}
330 5.692
1/8 8.11 {LOL} @ 105.06
1Kft 10.1
1/4 11.7 {LOL} @ 130.79
The second pas a let it go at 7K and the bike stood up but not dangerously but then came up again shifting to second gear and stayed there untill I found third kinda panic me a little, hehe This time I did not shift out of third just let it red line the final 10 seconds or so of the 1/4 mile lots of fun!!!!
Here is pass number 2 right lane a little better but not yet respectable but I was faster than the guy next to me also stock cbr 1000rr I am a 2005 he was a 2006 here are the numbers
R/T 0.15 {sucked}
60' 1.8 {better}
330 5.135
1/8 7.346 ( way better) @ 108.91 almost the same as first pass???
1Kft 9.558 { must have been the wheelie slowin me down}
1/4 10.947 @ 131.23 almost the same as first pass ????
It's tricky to race the clock but good expierence in high speed , wheelie, and panic situation... definetly taught me to not fight the bike and keep my head under controll also |

| Re: drag racing the numbers on your second pass are better because of your better 60 ft. Better short times help your mph but you won't see a giant change. My buddy has an 05 1K stock engine, but stretched 12". He normally runs 116-117 mph in the 1/8 with VP U4.2 Best time in 1/8 is 5.92, 60 fts are in low-mid 1.40's. Keep practicing! It's alot of fun |

| Re: drag racing nice will do thanks for the info ... I just updated to the 07 swingarm and linkage with a racetech rear spring new renthal sprockets and an EK x ring chain still 530 and the sprockets steel so I am still heavy but Inoticed a huge diffrence in keeping the nose down today and I just broke in a michelin 2ct so I am sure my ETA etc will be better soon and yes I love to practice but there are only certain times when they let you do unlimited strip time or passes for $19 usualy it is $60 for test and tune etc... and they are very picky about your fluids. race leathers, kill switch etc... so I may have to wait for the $19 all you can race nights ROCK ON BRO |

| Re: drag racing 60 bucks I complain about having to pay 15 for t&t. As mentioned before, the lower you can get it the quicker the 60 ft. times. Remember when Prostar started with the 2" minimum clearance rule? Everybody's times came up. |

Everybody's times came up. | $60 is high but they have lots of expierenced guys coaching out there and of course you get your slips from ETA, but the guys who come religiously get free race fuel like 113 up to 121 octane red and purple phillips 66 not any of the cars or trucks just bikes, but you do get to use the strip as many times as you can get lined up and fire your rocket down the flightpath for 4 hours straight>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> |
