outlaw 900 first runs.

Just done first runs on my 900rr.... 10.2 @131 mph best time with 1.6 60' on motor only, will need to sort gearing out as im only in 3rd going over the 1/4 mile line at the moment using 15/45 but the slick has a larger circumfrence that a 180 road tire so will need to try a 14 front i think ?. not sure about what revs i should be changing at using 12,500 at the moment, any ideas .

Re: outlaw 900 first runs.

Just for reference, I'm -2 in front with a 50 on the back (I'm going back to a 47 after this build). Using a 60 shot of spray, I run out of gearing just after the 1000 ft. mark (which is why I'm going back to a 47). What mods to the bike? 12.5 is alot. Mine pulled best around 11.2 with the 945. Ever use a Vance & Hines Powerpak? They will make it pull past 12 (and still make power). I had a Schnitz promod box on mine and it wouldn't pull past 11. It's getting a powerpak this year. Stick it on a dyno and see where it's making power at.

Re: outlaw 900 first runs.

standard 919 cc, schnitz pro 2. v & h sidewinder pro pipe, flowed, ported and 3 angle valved head, high lift cams, standard carbs, most of my budget was spent on getting the chassis to outlaw spec,( the yellow one ) 73" w/b so the next bunch of money will be going on big bore kit, then i can get the nitrous working 100 bhp shot.

Re: outlaw 900 first runs.

Invest in some GOOD springs. either PM or APE, runs about 120 bucks U.S. and change them out every year. Nitrous is hell on valvesprings. Also freshen the bearings at least every 2 years and invest in some good rods. I have the 893 motor which is prone to #3 rodbearing failure. I put some Falicons in there bout 6 years ago but I got lazy and didnt freshen the bearings and paid the price.

Re: outlaw 900 first runs.

give Kim at Carolina Cycle a call, I got a set of rods from them for lil over 600 bucks. They are very familiar with the RR and have good prices on performance parts. Carolina Cycle - Home
