Anyone else running a window switch ?

I have my whole nitrous system set up - bottle is filled but I still haven't sprayed. I'm trying to get my zex window switch set up first.

What I'm wondering is - those of you using a window switch to lock out first gear - what RPM do you set the lockout for?

On the zex I can set how many gears to lock out, then set the start rpm and the end rpm. From my freeway test runs it looks like on a WOT shift from 1st to 2nd - the rpm drops to about 8500-9000 ?? It's hard to watch the tach and dodge cars at the same time though.

If I set the start rpm (and lockout) too high then I won't be getting the most from the spray. If I set it too low then the system might not spray at all - it has to "see" that RPM twice before it will unlock.

Saturday I'm headed to the dragstrip with this thing and I'm hoping to get it all sorted out and at least one test run with the spray before then. I still have the 45 shot in there - maybe I'll save the 60 until next time if all goes well.

So my question is what are your settings on your switches?

Thanks.

Re: Anyone else running a window switch ?

i'm kind of confused by your post, why dont you just set it early like 5-6k? if you have it locked out of first no matter what its going to spray as soon as it sees second right?

if i was using a window switch i'd prolly set it for 5-6k, why not?

The switch monitors RPM - so it has to see the rpm you set it for twice before it activates the system. If I set it for 5 or 6 and have 1st locked out - when I shift I'm not going to drop all the way back down to 5 or 6k rpm so the system will never arm that way.

i guess i dont see the point of a window switch then, i thought it fired the solenoids between 2 different set RPM's only. i dont see why it wouldnt fire for sure if it read between the set rpms (ex. 6-13k)

you're saying you have to be below the activation rpm and then go into the range for it to fire? that would be worthless, especially for downshifting

It absolutely does exactly what you're saying. But also has the ability to lock out gears you don't want to spray in. I don't want to spray in 1st.

I have a ZEX tps switch on mine, but I have it set to activate my nitrous once I am WOT. I have a progressive controller and start spraying at 30% in first at WOT

Hey Bryan - I'm using the Zex TPS switch too. And I also have the Zex window switch. I did a test run this weekend and I think I have it about where I want it. - not spraying in 1st - then spraying all gears afterwards from 8500 to 11500. Seems to be working with that setup.

Just out of curiosity - what size shot are you running? 45 or 60? I have the 45 in now but it ran so nice I think I want the 60 now!

Thanks.

Are you doing plug checks? I pull one every few passes just to play it safe.

Hey! Yeah it's looking good with the 45 shot and I'm switching to the rich map (15% increase at 100% throttle all the way from 8k to redline).

I'm just itching to put the 60 shot in and I'll bump it up to 20% more fuel and see how it goes. I really like this bike though and don't want to blow it up hah!
